This was a very entertaining psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Joe is basically a stay-at-home dad who is out driving with his young son when they see his wife driving and on the spur of the moment decide to follow her into a hotel parking lot. What he witnesses is his wife having a heated argument with a family friend and when he intervenes they come to blows and punches are exchanged and the friend, Ben, is knocked to the ground where he hits his head and is left unconscious. In the meantime, Joe's son suffers an asthma attack and he leaves to seek medical attention and when he returns Ben and his wife are gone. Are you hooked yet? This is just the start. There are so many twists and turns to keep the pages turning and a well developed story it was hard to put this one down, so I didn't. I recommend this one! **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

  • I was lost in the pages of this twisty suspense!

My reading tastes seem to have changed this past year and I've been scooping up a lot of books in the mystery/suspense genre. So when St. Martin's Press sent me a paperback of this book, I couldn't wait to dive in. I am impressed with T.M. Logan's writing. I was practically glued to the pages of this book. So many things happened in a short period of time, literally 8 days from start to finish. The opening line of the book grabbed my attention right off the bat. Poor Joe. This man really gets put through the wringer. My heart really went out to him. He's just an average guy who loves his wife and son more than anything. Not the most ambitious of people, but he's doing okay and he's happy. He has everything he's ever wanted. Until one fateful day, one moment in time when he makes a split decision that turns his whole world upside down. I tried really hard to jot down things I thought were clues all throughout this book. Tried to form theories on what I thought was happening. But in the end, I hadn't figured anything out at all. And I must say I was totally thrown off base when all was revealed. Shocked! I would not have figured that out at all. This is a great book to get lost in. I'm off to see if Mr. Logan has written any other books I can snatch up! Thank you to St. Martin's Press for an advanced reader's edition of this paperback.

  • Fantastic thriller you don't want to miss!

If you like the description of the book, don’t bother reading this review and get the book as soon as you can, you will love it! LIES is one of the finest psychological thrillers of the year! T.M. Logan has written a very cleverly and intricately plotted thriller, where technology – the internet, cell phones, and social media play a pivotal role. LIES is very fast-paced, there is not a single dull moment, and it is extremely well-written, with crisply defined characters. It’s a fresh, very modern story, uniquely tailored to our digital age. Told in first person, from Joe’s point of view, I felt I was experiencing Joe’s extremely frustrating quest for the truth, a nightmare, to be honest that seemed to have all started with one little lie, and things unravelled quickly from there. Or rather Joe’s life unravelled, not the story! Mr. Logan is a fine writer whose prose is eloquent, crisp and dynamic, and the dialogues feel genuine at all times. Even if I wouldn’t have necessarily done exactly everything that Joe did, it would not have mattered, because there was nothing that would have changed anything. Not that he did anything stupid or reckless; I really liked Joe, and when you read the book, you’ll understand what I mean: he was powerless. LIES is so terrific, that midway, I was thinking that it really wouldn’t matter how it ended because the voyage was so exhilarating! The dénouement was a complete surprise, I never saw it coming, and since I’ve been reading thrillers all my life, it is high praise indeed coming from me. I’m still not quite sure how I feel about how it all turned out, but it was totally unexpected, and I don’t recall ever having read anything like it. I am looking forward to reading Mr. Logan’s future endeavours, because he is a fabulous writer. LIES is riveting, engrossing, and yes, thrilling! If you like thrillers, you will not be disappointed with LIES!

  • Gets better the more you read

So I started reading this book a long time ago and put it down. At the time it was just another book about a spouse who was cheating on their better half. I did finally pick the book back up and finished it. It does get better, if you can through the first 30% of the book, continue reading it. This book is about the cheating but it so much more. I liked that it follows the husband and not the wife. The books did end up being a good mystery. *I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
