    Quite unexpected

I love Lani’s books. Throughout her many series she’s painted an interconnected world that makes me want to move to Texas, with the small hope that these people are real, since you feel like you’ve known them forever. With Rhys and Henley’s book there were some plot twists/events that I did not see coming. I loved it! A little different than her other books, but that’s why I keep coming back for more. Can’t wait for the next one, I hope it’s Gentry!

I LOVE Rhys, Henley and their story!

Listen pitch is book three in the there’s no crying in baseball series. I love this series but this book is my favourite so far. I devoured this book in one sitting and then was kicking myself. Why? Because I wanted to read this book slower so that it lasted longer. We first met Henley briefly in too bad so sad – her brother’s book but the events in this book happened before her brothers story took place. I love, love, love Henley. I loved how selfless she was. She sat by Rhys when had no one. I loved that she volunteered at the hospital. She was attracted to Rhys as he was her neighbour but she quickly fell for him. I really liked how Henley and Rhys met. I loved that Rhys went out of his way to replace Henley’s transmitter that his bodyguard had broke. The chemistry between Rhys and Henley is undeniable. They’re perfect for one another. Rhys wanted Henley but he was a little hesitant at first because of what was going on in his life. He didn’t think that he could ever love someone but Henley is so easy to love and he soon found himself falling for her. Usually with propositions like the one Rhys give Henley, irritate me but I wasn’t irritated by Rhys propositions. He wasn’t selfish The danger in this story had me on the edge of my seat. I hated what Rhys and Henley went through and what they lost because of it. That being said, I liked that it all worked out in the end. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books in this series.

Rhys and Henly are absolutely perfect!

After I finally got control of my tears, after finishing Mess Me Up, I wondered about Rhys. We got glimpses, but nothing that really told us who he was, what was driving him to be who he was. I knew there had to be more to the story, more than just a woman, to pull apart friends the way she did. Now I know there is so much more to Rhys than I ever could have imagined! Rhys had a rotten childhood. So far out of the ordinary, that I can't even begin to tell you. But he has his sister, and he has baseball. That's all he needs, really. But then his past begins to intrude on the life he has built, and he has to figure out a way to fix everything. Henley is....girl next door, but not. Despite her disability, she isn't afraid to stand up for herself, and that makes her strong. It's really not a disability, but more of an obstacle that she has worked hard to overcome. Her life has been good, but it seems like something is missing. She has family, a job, a home, but she wants more. She volunteers at the local hospital but I think it is really more of her giving, loving personality that drives her, rather than her need to feel useful. She lets nothing stop her from getting what she wants, and nothing stand in her way. This book was fun, interesting, and really ties together all of the stories in the baseball series and the Bear Bottom Guardians series. There was some drama, some serious parts, but the connection between Henley and Rhys was absolutely....perfect. There is no other way to put it. I loved them separately, but together they were amazing! Another must read from LLV!

    Enjoyable

4 Star Review Listen Pitch (There’s No Crying In Baseball #3) by Lani Lynn Vale This is book three in the There’s No Crying in Baseball series. It can be read as a standalone but in my opinion I would read the books in order. Rhys Rivera is the star short-stop for the Longview Lumberjacks and is known as the bad boy of baseball for good reasons. His father was a mob boss so you know that this story will not be just a sports romance story even though Rhys wants nothing to do with the family business and has left it all behind him. When Rhys’s bodyguard accidental ruins his deaf neighbour Henley Cree’s hearing transmission he has no idea how his life is about to change. The chemistry between Rhys and Henley was off the charts and smoking hot. However it was more interesting to see that the player could and did have real feelings for Henley and I loved how protective and alpha he was towards her. The question is has Rhys really Changed or will he revert to his old ways? This book was well written with characters that kept me entertained and at times an emotional roller coaster of a read with humour, angst, danger, and sadness.
