    I couldn't put it down

I really loved this book. I felt like I was right there with the main character. The emotions were strong and honest and you could see how the supernatural forces were at play throughout the entire book. I couldn't put it down.

An impressive addition to my collection.

Philips is a new author for me, I was offered a comp copy to read and review. I must say Love in Purgatory is an impressive addition to my collection. The story line was well written and overall quite easy to follow. The cast was, for the most part, easy to connect with. I did have a little trouble with one or two of them but that quite possibly could have been the authors intent despite them playing IMO more significant roles. The world building was a blast. Wait till she jumps. I would like to read the stories of some of the supporting cast. A couple of them added so much to the story and easily had me enamored. Gracelyn had such a big heart, truly, she looked for the good in everyone. She believed that even the darkest of souls harbored some light. I related to this aspect of her personality but I will admit when it came to a certain someone (no spoilers) I don't think I would have been so forgiving. Heck, I probably would have neutered him when I saw him again. That is me though and probably why I am not in any danger of tipping the tides of anything (again No Spoilers). She also stood up for what she believed in. At times this put her in a bit of a predicament. Alaric was that guy, the one that you would take home to meet the family. Okay, in this case, I would definitely not suggest this but you know what I mean. I don't want to spoil the surprise regarding him, 'cause there are a few. Just know he was fighting so hard not to give in but somethings are just too much temptation. Wait until you get his story. My heart broke for him. I could actually feel the remorse that he was drowning in. There were some scenes I felt were a touch over the top or maybe they just needed a touch more sustenance to them. Overall this was an engaging read that kept me entertained.
