The why's of the Cummings family

Love's Violet Sunrise, written by Naomi Rawlings, is the prequel to the Eagle Harbor Series which I have thoroughly enjoyed and was not at all surprised to be thrilled with this prequel! This is the story of Hiram and Mabel...thirty years before the series. Hiram--what a man on integrity! He's an honest man who wants to become a lawyer in order to help his fellow man because of a verse, "For The Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off." He was introduced to Mabel because she had heard he defended another innocent man and Mabel needed him to defend her brother Dietrich after he was accused of setting fire to a mill and killing the owner and his family. Mabel requested his help, but Hiram was just going to law school and had not completed his studies, he didn't feel qualified. This novella is a great beginning story that shows the foundation of the Cummings family. It also show that a "good name is rather to be chosen than great riches" as the Bible says. Sweet quick read with a lot of underlying facts that help in putting the why's together for the series! Great add by this author! I was given this book by the author. All thoughts and comments are my own.

    A great prequel to a stand-out series!

Naomi Rawlings has a gift for writing strong characters who are confronted by seemingly impossible circumstances yet manage to persevere by seeking God's will and following it. I admired Mabel's tenacity in not giving up when rejected over and over. Her determination compels Hiram to recognize that his integrity took precedence over his job and dreams for the future and he could not allow her to fend for herself. The story is suspenseful as powerful men pursue them while they are trying to solve the crime in order to free Mabel's brother. They bond during the time they spend working together and the romance that blossoms is quick but sweet. This is a wonderful beginning to a series I enjoyed reading and it made me want to go read all the books again :) (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions expressed are my own)

Arson, murder, suspense, and yes.. a sweet romance

This story and the characters, just drew me in and I didn't look up until I was done! This book may only be 108 pages but it moves along quickly searching for justice for the immigrants and the accused. Arson, murder, suspense, and yes.. a sweet romance! I'd certainly recommend this novella..
