  • "Loving the White Bear" - Book 1-Heart of the Bear

by Terry Spear. .I just finished reading this book August 04, 2017. This is my review. So I found this book just OK for me. I really enjoy Ms. Spear's Heart of the Wolf, Jaguar and Cougar series' so I thought I'd try this Heart of the Bear series as well. Well, Rob and Alicia's story was a little lack-luster for me. The overall story line I found interesting but I just didn't feel the love between the characters. Alicia is a photographer going on an Alaskan wilderness tour. She's also trying to get away from her controlling ex-boyfriend. When she meets one of her tour guides, Rob, she instantly wants to touch him. Yes, he's gorgeous, but that's not the reason. She has powers that allow her to see into someone's past when she touches them. When she finally does touch him, she can't believe what she sees! She sees the future instead of the past! But that's not how her powers work. So why is Rob so different from everyone else? And why does she see a polar bear attacking her when she touched him? Rob can't believe one of his tourist has psychic-like powers. Because he has powers too. He gets visions of the future. When Alicia touches him for the first time, he instantly gets a vision of a grizzly bear attacking him and Alicia falling into the freezing Alaskan water. Their connection is instant and both of them know something just happened between them. But Alicia is human. He's supposed to find a nice female polar bear to settle down with. Regardless of her being human, he will not let her die in the freezing water. Even if he has to expose his polar bear side in front of her. See! The overall story sounds great. And it is. But I just didn't really feel that great a love connection between Rob and Alicia. I guess, for me, it was a little to fast. One touch and they are the loves of each others lives. I didn't really feel the chemistry between them. The story flowed well but I found the writing kind of basic. Which is really surprising because I really enjoy all of Ms. Spears' other books. I found some of the characters rambled a bit. In some places, the descriptions were really good and then others, I thought, needed more description. Also, I found the story predictable. I new at least one thing that was going to happen pretty early on in the book. For me, I think everything was just too happy in this book. The "problems" that arise are dealt with really easily. The ending of the book (which I figured out) was actually really good. That's when everything gets a little more exciting. Also, this book is slightly connected to the Heart of the Wolf series. White wolves are mentioned in this book. Also grey wolves. So we could see a bit of a crossover in future books. So overall, this story was just OK for me. Will I continue reading this series? Probably. I will give the second book a try and see if I will continue after that. Would I recommend this book? Yes, because this is just 'my' view of the book. You might love this book. Give it try and make up your own mind. Happy reading!

    Thanks for your feedback!
