    Murder and Mayhem Well Done!

Lowcountry Bookshop was definitely up to Susan Boyer’s usually fantastic storytelling abilities. Colleen and Liz and Nate follow a murder throughout Charleston to try find the killer and protect an potentially innocent woman. Moments of mayhem ensue and the cloudy picture gets even cloudier before the sun finally shines through. Trying to watch them as they search for clues can be humorous or dangerous or confusing, depending on the day and time. Liz’s quirky family and friends do not disappoint. This book and a glass of Cheerwine will make your day. Susan Boyer’s seventh Liz Talbot mystery hits it out of the park again. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and reviewed it voluntarily.

    BEGUILING!

Lowcountry Bookshop ((The Liz Talbot Mystery Series #7) is beguiling from beginning to end! I’ve been a fan of this series from the beginning, but in my opinion, the author has taken this series to a whole different level with this installment. She also manages to draw attention to a very real problem in today’s society. Boyer has given her readers more insights into her beloved characters and it’s interesting to see what motivates them, watch their growth, see their struggles, learn their dreams and she makes you feel as though you are a “silent PI partner” working with them to solve their case. Liz and Nate find themselves working a very complex case with an even more complicated client. Throw in Liz’s family’s usual shenanigans and chaos on top of everything else and you wonder how Liz and Nate are able to close any of their cases! Boyer’s clever diversions will keep you engaged throughout! Best mystery of the series! I was provided an ARC of this book by Henery Press and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I also have preordered a copy of this book for my own personal collection.

    My Favorite So Far

Liz and Nate are drawn into another mystery – this time in Charleston. A man has been killed in what may or may not have been an accident. The suspects keep coming while Liz and Nate are having a hard time eliminating anyone from their list. So which was it, accident or murder? I LOVED this novel – this series, by far, is one of my favorites! I loved that we were able to witness the love between Liz and Nate – they were so sweet and tuned into each other. Liz’s family is a hoot. I think we can all see a little bit of our family in them. The descriptions of the flowers, the food, and the locations are wonderful and make me want to visit (even if just by the internet) all of the gorgeous places featured in this novel. I was provided an advanced reader copy of this book and Susan Boyer never disappoints. My only regret is finishing the book and the time it takes for the next one to come out!!

A Great Addition to the Series

Thanks to Netgalley and Henery Press for providing a copy for an unbiased review. Well done again, Susan M. Boyer. As a fan of many mystery series, I tend to approach the newest in a loved series with a mixture of excitement and a bit of trepidation. Will it hold up? Will the author provide a great addition to the series, or will this new one disappoint? Happily, Ms. Boyer did not disappoint, and this was a fine addition (#7) to the Lowcountry series. As usual I came away longing to revisit Charleston, visit the sites Liz visits, eat where Liz and Nate and friends eat, hit the SC beach for a long walk, and go back in time for meals with my grandmothers, who cooked like Liz’s mama does. In this installment, Liz and Nate are settling in to their marriage. They’re partnering well in their PI business. They’re surrounded by friends and family (and a guardian spirit) who are interesting and engaging. Their case this time around has the added mystery of not even knowing who their actual client is when they’re first hired by the client’s attorney, as he’s been sworn to secrecy. But that secret and more are revealed as they work through the steps to solve the mystery of who ran down a prominent Charleston resident in a hit & run on a dark & stormy night. If Stella Maris were a real place, I’d be making a reservation to vacation there. Instead, I’ll anxiously await the next installment of the adventures of Liz Talbot and friends.

How have I not heard about this series before?

This seventh book in the series was one of the best reads I have had in awhile. Charleston PI Liz Talbot and her husband, Nate have been hired to prove a local innocent in the death of a well to do local. The list of suspects keeps growing and it’s not easy to cross any of them off. Liz and Nate go undercover to get to the truth and things aren’t quite what they seem. With her family, their whacky pets, and a cast of locals this story kept me hooked from start to finish. I’m going to have to spend some quality time with Liz catching up on the first six books in the series! ABSOLUTELY love the last paragraph. It’s been a long time where I have smiled at the last few words in any story.
