Lexi Blake does an excellent full and deep story

Macon Miles is a solider who lost his leg in battle and soon after his father and his wife. He has always been the son who followed the rules. Unlike his brother Adam Miles who broke them all. Macon betrayed his brother's trust and has since been estranged from him. So when Miles is lost and alone wallowing in his own self-pity Adam is the last person he expects to pull him out of the darkness. His brother offers him a new life, a way to begin again. Macon has recently grown to love cooking and having a job at Top doing what he loves is more than he could ask for. More than he thinks he deserves. Allyson Jones promised her foster mother on her deathbed she would find out what really happend to her foster brother Ronnie in Afghanistan. The Army reports don't make sense, someone is hiding something. The only man who can give her answers is Macon Miles the last man to see her brother alive and he is refusing her calls. So she finds a way to get into his life and figure out what he knows. Ally starts working at Top alongside of Macon. She's there for a purpose to find the truth not to find love. But there's something about Macon that draws her in, she can't seem to resist the effect he has on her. A tragic accident at Top brings these two lost souls together. When secrets come to light can the betrayals be forgotten? When the truth is told can true love win out in the end? As always Lexi Blake does an excellent job of writing a full and deep story. I love that she found a way to continue more Masters and Mercenaries stories through a little bit of a different avenue. She is using Sean Taggarts new restaurant as a backdrop for romance. Macon is Adam's brother and their brotherly bond renewed brought me to tears. Ally is a sweet strong woman, looking for answers but found a love of a life time as well. Macon and Ally's chemistry was unstoppable, it was inevitable that they end up together. You can read this book without reading the others in the series but I highly recommend reading the whole series. I am a huge Lexi Blake fan and will always read anything she writes.

    Luscious

I really enjoy these people. I feel like I know them and love reading about them in each characters novel. Funny, qwirky, steamy romance, with a great plot line and amazing flow.

    Good book

This book got so good toward the end that I couldn't go to bed until I finished it at 4:30AM. This book had me laughing & sniffling & cheering for the underdog(Macon) & I enjoyed the quick sarcasm of Ally & the quiet strength of Macon. A military mission gone wrong leaves 1 man forever changed & 1 family missing a member. Macon Miles the younger brother of Adam is 1 yr out of the army after losing his leg( in a failed mission that sees him the only member of his team to come home) & to his wife divorcing him for his older brother Alan & the family of his team mate looking for answers to questions he doesn't want to answer of why their son/brother didn't come home. Adam brings his brother to Dallas & into the Sanctum/McKay-Taggart family where he finds a job in Sean's restaurant Top & meets Ally Jones. Ally Jones is really Sarah Allyson Jones(Rowe) the foster sister of Ronnie Rowe who didn't come back from his last mission in the army & who's looking for answers to questions of why the reports of her brothers death don't sound right; finds herself working with Macon at Top & realizing that he's not the man she thought he was. For a novella there was a lot packed into this book & it's well worth the read, as is the whole Masters & Mercenaries series. Definite Recommend.

This is Macon and Allyson's story. This couple meets at Sean Taggart's restaurant Top. From there, the love story begins.
