Great companion novel to the Sempre series. Such an interesting perspective from one if the most mysterious characters of the series. Loved it!

    intriguing story

Since this book came by me through the romance section I should mention that readers, who look for a book which fullfills the typical romance criteria might be disappointed. However for me that was, what made this book even more interesting than "Sempre". Having read sempre you get some more insights into the story of Carmines father and you might get a spoiler if you are planning to read "Sempre Redemption" so keep that in mind. The reason I regard this book untypical for romance is that the story is much broader than woman meets man plus complications and a lot of sex resulting in a more or less probable happy end with again a last sex scene. If you hope for this or maybe some masturbation aid you won't be happy with this book. What I likes about it and which cost me some nights of sleep is that you accompany this complex character from age 7 through to age forty plus. Yes there is love, yes you wait until they come together, but then the story goes on and on and becoming even better by doing it. It is more a kind of romance touched mafia thriller. The scenes in the beginning when the abuse is described are hard to take and for people who were unfortunate to experience similar things in real life should read this only if they feel strong enough. The author shows very clearly how this childhood leads the main character to the man he becomes. So for me a clear yes and I guess I will read the book many times in the years to come.
