    Typical historic romance. Good read.

I really enjoyed this book as its been quite some time since ive read a good historic romance as all that anyone seems to write about lately is MMA fighters, tattoo artists and bikers... not that I'm complaining! But it was a nice change of pace. The story was written really well and kept me wanting to keep reading into the night. The hot and heavy scenes were not full frontal but enough to let you know what was going on which is also a nice change. Sometimes implying is better than knowing every single detail. The only problem i had with this book is the main conflict - it just seemed way over reacted. I completely get that it was a law broken but the way they all reacted to it wasn't realistic. Also it was implied that she had been raped and the whole time youre thinking oh she was raped and treated terribly, then all it turns out to be was she willingly went to bed with her husband but then found out hed been married before...ummm...? Ok horrible for her but yeah. The whole main conflict part just didnt make sense and could have been written a bit better.

    Updated Version of First Book

This is a reworked and re-edited version of Julianne MacLean's first book. Prairie Bride. I have read other books from the author and was looking forward to reading this book. While the book is part of the Dodge City Brides series, it is a standalone book and does not end in a cliffhanger. Briggs is a farmer on the Kansas prairie and is tired of being alone so he places an ad for a wife. Sarah sees the ad and is desperate to escape Boston and finds her way on the train headed west. He wanted someone plain and she is beautiful. She thought he'd be more refined. He wanted someone to help on the farm and she doesn't know how to milk a cow. She thought they'd live closer to town not in a sod dugout in the middle of nowhere. They begin to build their life together but Sarah hasn't told Briggs everything. When things get tough, will they be able to love and trust each other or was this marriage doomed from the start? There are additional books in the original Dodge City Brides series and the author is updating them as well. I look forward to reading more about these couples on the Kansas prairie.

    Unputdownable

This was, for me, a heart wrenching story but beautifully written and I couldn't put it down until the very end. Gosh, life was a bit harsh in the good old days, wasn't it? Of course the villian's past caught up with him and he eventually paid for it. The old girlfriend tried to come back and so on, but the way this story is written the two main characters are like a pair of yoyo's playing out the good and the bad incidents in their lives. An ARC copy of the book was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.

    Secrets

When Briggs advertised for a mail order bride he had no idea how his life would change. Sarah had a past and was afraid it would catch up to her. She hoped that Briggs would love her. As her past came out they both had to deal with questions about there past as Briggs had secrets to. I loved the story and it kept me glued to it.

    Mail Order Bride

I love country romance with a little suspense. Just when you think you have it figured out there comes a surprise. A must read.
