• Couldn't love it more!

I can’t even explain how much I loved this book! I feel like I need to wax poetically to get you all to understand how Tom and Mika, and their family, invaded my mind, my heart, and my soul, and I don’t want to let them go. I am now officially Elsa, obsessed with every single move they make, all the things they do, and every appearance that they make. This book breaks it all wide open, we thought we knew the Pierce-Swan family (immediate and extended) but there was so much below the surface. Tom broke my heart (the kittens, oh, don’t even get me started on the kittens) and didn’t realize he was seen. He wasn’t an accessory, or an extra, or even eye candy, those who loved him, saw, and see, him. When he realizes that, he put my heart back together again. He did all this with the quiet, unwavering strength of Mika by his side. She didn’t do it for him, but she supported him, pointed things out to him, and comforted him as needed. She had been through so much, she got the process, and that it didn’t ever end, it just got easier. I loved these two more than anything and they have given me a huge (GIGANTIC) book hangover that I will happily revel in for days <3

  • Most epic level of second chance romance

than fabulous and epic. Making The Match is the most epic level of second chance romance with complex characters, rich feels and angst overload. I love when Kristen Ashley does mature or older couple and she nailed it again. It has a simple storyline. Really. Ex Tennis superstar and now renowned doctor Tom Pierce is getting matched with his once upon a time crush and all around fabulous artist Mika Lowe by his grown up and nosey and again, amazing kids. Mix some suspense and pour some angst and throw some mouthwatering chemistry and bang..you have an unputdownable story. I feel you should read previous River Rain books to get the full impact because Tom's life was in those books too. Tom had a great love and marriage and then he made a mistake that ended his marriage. Mika had a great love and marriage and lost him. Both have amazing kids. Now this story is about showing one can find great love multiple times in a lifetime and that doesn't diminish the previous loves anyway. Tom is the kind of man who just steals the show and takes the breath away. Sorry Chloe, your dad is hotter than you fiance! He has lived through a lot. He sacrificed a lot. And he is such a good man that he carries all the blame and burdens when it's not only his to carry. He need to take care of people in his life but Mika was the one who took care of him. She is just bada##. Creative. Fierce. Soft for her loved ones. Talented. Beautiful. She has a powerful presence, sharp mind and beautiful soul. When they first met years ago, time was not on their side. But now it is. The author talked about an astonishing range of difficult subjects here. Grief. Loss. Morality. Family love and values. Great parents who made some greater kids through tough times. It was such a soul deep story of love and redemption and I am head over heels in love. This whole crew is just epic and I cannot wait to meet them again.

  • River Rain!!

This author has her own unique way of writing that I fell in love with years ago, some of her stories are better than others. This was not one of my favorites but it was a very enjoyable read. Tom and Mika are both older and have grown children. I always love to read about a older couple.” I’m not a spring chicken myself “ “I caught him staring at you eight times during brunch. Eight times. I counted. That does not say ‘friends.’” “Okay,” I said, just to get this over with. “I’m attracted to Tom Pierce. He’s attractive. That happens.” “He’s dope. And you should go for it.” It gets off to a slow start but does get better so stick in there and don’t give up. It’s worth it in the long haul. 1 like

  • Very much enjoyed this!

Kristen Ashley is immensely talented at writing romances filled with emotion, angst and keep you turning pages anxious to see what will happen next. Making the Match is no exception. I typically gravitate away from stories about the well to do, yet Kristen Ashley can write about characters I normally can't stand, and do it in such a way that I can feel empathy and compassion and even cheer to see them have their happy ever after. I've been intrigued by Tom and couldn't wait to read his story. I tend to only like single or dual POV stories, but this series has been different from many of her previous ones in that each have contained brief POVs by other characters, and Making the Match was no exception. I understand why she chose to do this, but I wish we had a bit less of it. This book deals with some really heavy and difficult topics that have been surfacing and surrounding us for a number of years now. They are important, and it's clear that Kristen Ashley and I are aligned when it comes to these topics, but I wish they had been more subtly presented. Kristen Ashley's talent for writing stories and characters that draw people in and keep them entertained and turning pages until the end is evident here and I can't wait now for the next in this series.

  • Great addition to the series!

I've written this review several times already but it's so hard to do because there is a lot going on and I don't want to spoil anything....lets try this again. In this forth book of the RIVER RAIN SERIES we have Tom Pierce a former Tennis Superstar, well I shouldn't say former because he is still in the game only he doesn't compete like he once did and now he is a commentator as well, and we have Mika Stowe whom people refer to as the "It Girl" because she has all of it going on, looks, smarts, depth, talent, and much more. While they are the main couple of this book we have many secondary characters that add a ton to the story line and I am sure many of them will have their own stories at a later date. Tom and Mika have great chemistry and really click both in and out of the bedroom. I really enjoy the way they put things out there and don't let anything fester, they are grown adults and act as such. Tom's relationship with Mika's daughter, Cadence, was beautiful... she never had a father figure in her life so he was definitely stepping into the role nicely. Imogen surprised me in this book and not in a good way. Tom's daughter Sasha's finally opening up about things and so is his son Matt, I cannot wait to get their stories as well as Hale's. This was another great read in the series and it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I personally would recommend reading the series in order because Imogen and Chloe's stories have previously occurred and they play big parts in this one so you may want to know about them before you dive into this book. If you enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, Adult Romances, Romances with MC's over 40, Second Chance at Love Romances, or Single Parent Romances I would recommend this book to you. Happy Reading!!!
