5 Star Review Mama’s Boy (Last Man Standing #1) by Avery Flynn   I was excited when I learnt that Avery Flynn had a new series releasing. If Mama’s Boy is anything to go by then I think she will have a winning series on her hands. This is Dixon Beckett and Fiona Hartigan’s story and what a fun, entertaining story it was. Determined to win the last wrapped Christmas present left by their Grandma Beckett, Dixon and his cousins Nash and Griff agree to an unusual bet. However Dixon is determined to win at all costs. His cousin's have set up his dating profile and to say it is horrible is an understatement. Fiona is fed up with dating duds and when she sees Dixon’s profile she jumps at the chance as she has been trying to meet with him regarding her business. There were so many laugh out loud moments that my husband thought I was going crazy. I really liked Dixon and Fiona, she is such a sassy, feisty woman. This was a well written story with witty banter and characters whose story you cannot help but be drawn to. The secondary characters were engaging, particularly Fiona’s family, but the big question is what will happen when feelings become involved? Could Dixon and Fiona actually be a perfect match? One click and find out.

  • heartwarming, witty and hot

The first thing you need to know about Dixon Beckett .He is no Mama's Boy when it comes to charming you and winning your heart with his swoony, sexy, adoringly arrogant ways. Now the first thing you need to know about Fiona Hartigan. She can be a sweetheart but she holds so much fierceness inside! And the last thing you need to know about Avery Flynn's writing is the amazing capabilities of her words to deliver a heartwarming, witty and hot romance. I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

  • Fun!

This was a fun read with cousins starting a bet that sets all these different relationships in motion. While I feel the story dragged at times and didn't need to be so long, I liked Fiona and Dixon and their back and forth. They had time to fall for each other under the fake dating ruse and gave me time to love them. The story is sweet, sexy, and funny, and I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the boys next.

  • May the best man win

New series that centers around three cousins, Dixon, Griff and Nash Beckett. The cousin’s beloved grandmother recently died leaving one unopened gift with no tag. The cousins devise a bet to see who will get to claim the gift. All of them will join Bramble, a dating website where you commit to six dates, and the last single man standing wins the gift. Of course, the other cousins get to plan the dates, so all’s fair in love and war. Dixon is the first cousin to throw his hat into the Bramble ring and puts in qualities in a woman he knows he will hate. Fiona Hartigan (one of the many siblings in the previous Hartigan series), has been duped by a cheating jerk and has decided to change her nice ways. She see’s Dixon’s profile on Bramble and recognizes the CEO jerk that blew her off three times for a pitch of her Grandmother’s beauty products. Of course, they agree to go through all of the dates to get what they want. Fiona and Dixon are wary of relationships, and falling for someone is the last thing they want. I loved seeing the Hartigan family again, and getting to know the Beckett cousins. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

  • Great new series…with more Hartigans!

Mama’s Boy was a lighthearted and fun book to lose yourself into for a few hours. And if you’ve ever read a Avery Flynn book, it contains all the humor and hijinks that I’ve come to love about about her books. And it features a Hartigan!! That alone is worth it, because this family is obnoxiously hilarious! It’s Fiona’s turn to find a match, but she’s trying to channel her sister Fallon’s give-no-effs personality when she impulsively swipes right on “dog hater” Dixon’s profile. It’s a hoot to watch this sweet gal try to go against her natural caring nature. Dixon was a harder sell for me, but I’m not sure why. Maybe it was his take-no-prisoners desire to always win. It was a bit off-putting, especially since he was generally a nice guy. I mean I grew to appreciate him but it wasn’t love at first read for me. But I was still fully engaged with their story and the bit of mystery I guess we’ll find out after cousins Griff (can’t wait!) and Nash (he seems very childish…lol) get their turns. Great start to this new series!
