    Love this book!

I absolutely loved this series. I could not put it down. I really felt like I was right there with the characters at times. I cried with them and laughed with them. It was very well written with lots of action and adventure.

    Great UNIQUE story!

I loved the heroine and her drive and determination. I love how she fights her feelings for the "guy next door", all the while trusting his guidance and skills. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this is the first book in a series you won't be able to put down!

Recommended if you like post-apocalyptic YA.

If one touch can infect. . . Then a kiss is deadly. . . Marked is the first book in a new YA post-apocalyptic trilogy and it was very hard to put down. I have to say that it was one of the best self-published books I've ever read. In fact I really couldn't tell it was a self-published book. It didn't have a lot of the issues I've run into while reading most of them. The plot was good, there were no grammar or spelling issues that I noticed, and I felt like the characters were consistent. As for the characters, for the most part I liked Ruby, although she annoyed me a few times with her self-loathing and headstrong behavior. Despite those weaknesses, she was a strong, independent thinker. I kind of liked that her strengths were not in physical strength or combat, but in other areas. I also felt like the love triangle was handled pretty well, and the fact that there was a love triangle in this book didn't annoy me at all, which was a relief, because sometimes they can be so bad. The guy who becomes the main love interest in the book was a bit over-protective at times, but at least he listened to her when she asked him not to do something, and I was also really happy when she called him out on some of his behavior. That's more than I can say for some of the adult characters I've read about in books. There were some nice twists in the book. I did predict a couple of them, but that was ok, it didn't make the book any less enjoyable. I recommend this if you like post-apocalyptic YA books. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy.

What a topic to be reading at this time

Another superb series of stories from Bridget B, where does this lady keep on getting them from, her imagination is to me remarkable. When finished reading a story, it all seems so easy, but afterwards, thinking abut the various characters and all the plots that continually keep arising makes me wonder where does it come from? Seems straight forward enough but thinking abut how the complete series is arrived at over the number of books there are, makes me admire tremendously the mind of the writer, how does she come up with it?? This book 1 lays the basis of the main characters and the plots that run through the stories. The growth of them and the mind bending events that they continually face, develop their characters and keeps one guessing what is next, how can they keep on going. Probably the main character is a young lass named Ruby just 16 years old but not far off her adult years of 17. Her past and developing years are very chequered which has a big influence on her present day feelings, beliefs and behaviour. She very much loved her Uncle and Aunty who were foremost involved with her upbringing, however, life in this sphere was about to change too and she found this extremely difficult to deal with. Just another blip on who she was, and an unwanted influence on her in many ways and made life very difficult but as she grew older she was able to form her own opinions and endeavours to be like she thought she should in spite of the efforts of several elders in her life. She secretly had a love but her circumstances and experiences committed her to having difficulty dealing with this as she wished. One night much changed when a special event in their village gave her the opportunity to have a dream come true and her heart went into overdrive with the thought of what would or might happen. Part of her dream came true when what she wished for happened but could she follow through with her dreams? or did it all turn sour like many things in her life had. At this time on earth there was an event similar to what the world is going through now, probably worse than we have but still a disaster. The earth comprised of Marked and Unmarked beings and they could not be further apart even though they were both humans, well one lot isn't according to the other section, but who is who? This had seriously affected Ruby's wishes and as a result her life was thrown into a turmoil when the really happy occasion turned toxic. Poor Ruby was so distressed her levels of fear and uncertainty went off the charts, what was she to do? This affliction on earth seriously divided the worlds population and particularly in America where it turned family members against each other as well as counties, no one was safe at all, enemies all round and who could one trust? In spite of her best efforts and support of close friends, life kept getting worse and she did not know where or who to turn to. Her past father challenges her life and again throws her mind into turmoil to the extent she does not know who she is or where she is going. Ruby discovers some very unsettling information regarding her father and along with friends and relatives wants to make amends and put the world right again but this is easier thought than done and so she is faced again with another dilemma, something else she does not need in her life. Her best friends and some relatives try to work with her to rectify the very bad news they have discovered but nothing seems to go in the right direction for very long. She finally meets someone who believes in her fully and wants to support her but she has trouble accepting that someone would want to be with her, maybe this time she is incorrect but who is this person. Friend, relative or lover, who knows? Ruby maybe finds a soul mate but can they get through the adverse life in front and surrounding them and can Ruby accept someone totally believes in her, based on her life until the moment, she does not think so. She meets a couple informing her they are her family but she already knows her family so who are these people. This couple are very influential in the land so who are they really and is she confused by the information that she knew about her family already, so what is going on? This couple do not act or appear to be like what Ruby wants as parents so what does she have to learn. There is much more in this book called Marked but I feel it is better to read it than have a synopsis presented to you, it is much more enjoyable to read the story in it's entirety so I leave it to you obtain this story and I trust you enjoy it as much as I have, don't forget there are additional books in this series so get reading and enjoy. I have written this review of my own accord without promise or offering from any person or company.

    Riveting action and memorable characters

Ruby isn’t your typical heroine. She doesn’t want to lead an army or rule a nation or even to be a beloved benefactress. She really just wants to figure out what to do with her life and to be noticed by her crush Wesley. But when Wesley is Marked—infected with a deadly, incurable virus—her quiet, behind-the-scenes life comes to an end. Thanks to her father’s journals, she knows she is the only person who might be able to save him, along with the rest of the Marked. Problem is, she doesn’t exactly know HOW she’ll be able to do that. But she has to try before anyone else dies. Unfortunately, her attempt at a solo mission is foiled by the impressive and annoying…and caring and handsome…Sam, who is determined to come along and help her. The farther she gets on her quest, the more secrets unravel, until Ruby wonders who she really is and what to do next. With her world upside down, can she focus on finding the cure? This book was full of twists and turns, surprising me several times. And I loved the character development, watching Ruby and Sam grow and change through the process. While there were lighter or more thoughtful moments to balance out the action, this story never dragged. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
