    I can't finish it...

Seriously? Drake sees Evangeline as nothing more than an object to care for and receive absolute submission from. "Dominance, Angel. And your submission. Your complete and utter submission. In all things, but especially in my bed. You don't deny me anything. What I want, I take. What I choose to give, I give. You don't have a choice, and you don't get to tell me no. Ever." DNF 24% I can't possibly finish this book. The quote you see above was the final straw for me. I am all about alpha males being protective and dominance in the bedroom but, for me, it needs to be a mutual agreement based on trust and respect for each other. That is not at all what this "relationship" between Drake and Evangeline is at all. Evangeline is fresh off a really bad break up from a royal prick. I can understand her trying to work through self esteem issues and needing a confidence boost. What I don't understand is the whiplash between having zero confidence (which is brought up numerous times in the little bit I read) to all of a sudden standing up to one of Drakes men, only to go back to complete submission and thinking so little of herself. Then she freaks out on one of her very best friends when she comes looking for Evangeline since she didn't come home from the end of her shift at the bar (which ended at 4 a.m.) because one of Drakes men was waiting for her outside to take her directly to Drake. Or in Evangeline's words, kidnap her, since she was taken against her will. Evangeline acts as though she is suffering from Stockholm syndrome after a single full conversation with Drake. Who has just demanded that Evangeline live with him and be his pet after meeting her twice. Which leads to the following quote above and is where I stopped. I hate talking bad about a book, but I feel like this one here is exactly what gives the erotica and romance genre a bad name. This relationship is not ok. I believe I have an open mind about the many different avenues that a relationship can take but kidnapping and then demanding a woman to become a possession is just too far for me.

    Great book!

Mastered is book one of the The Enforcers series. It is Evangeline and Drake's story. It ends ends with a cliffhanger and their story continues in Dominated . *** After being dumped and humiliated by her boyfriend, Evangeline follows her friends advice and goes to the hottest club in the city, Impulse, to show him what he threw away. They dress her up and she looks amazing. However, things don't go as they planned and Evangeline ends up face to face with Drake Donovan, the owner of the club. Soon, they embark on a special relationship: Evangeline becomes Drake's submissive and must give all of herself to him, and Drake takes care of her and protects her in every way possible. But Drake still has secrets. Will Evangeline remain by his side when she discovers the truth? Or will Drake lose is Angel? I really liked Mastered! It is a great book, with a captivating story. It is full of scorching sex scenes and suspense. It keeps the reader guessing what comes next and wanting more. It is mainly from Evangeline's and Drake's POVs, but there are bits of the story from Drake's men's POVs. Evangeline is a very sweet and kind young woman. She is naive, innocent and very loyal, but also very strong. After what happened with her ex, she doesn't believe she will ever be enough for anyone, especially a man like Drake. I loved to see her bloom during her time with Drake and how she defended his men. Drake is a dark and brooding alpha male, that's used to have control of every aspect of his life. He feels an immediate attraction for Evangeline and decides he has to have her. I loved how sweet and gentle he was with Evangeline. Drake's men are very intriguing, especially Silas. They're very close, they're like brothers. I loved their reactions to Evangeline. Mastered is a great book, with a captivating story and characters. The last chapters are amazing! I can't wait o read what happens next! I want to know more about Drake's past and more about Silas, Maddox and Justice. I loved them! This is the first book I've read written by Maya Banks and she didn't disappoint. Her writing style is amazing and I can't wait to read all of her books!
