    Loved!

LOVED!! Maybe This Time is the second book in the Whiskey & Weddings series and while we were teased with TJ & Jen's story in the first book, you can easily read this one standalone. These characters and their story are both well developed. You feel like they are your friends and have you cheering for them right from the beginning. Jen seems like she's carefree and hard as nails. That's the mask she wears. Lately though life has slapped her around and the mask is beginning to slip. Thank goodness for the temporary position at the Stag. Wedding planning was never her dream job but she finds she enjoys it and she's pretty good at it too. The only problem - TJ Laughlin. TJ is basically her boss as a co-owner of the Stag so the attraction between them is not only inconvenient but also strictly off limits! This is a fantastic book and one I think you'll enjoy. I highly recommend it.

    I loved this series!

I absolutely love this series! I read an early copy of this book via Netgalley and just happened to finish it on Valentine's Day. Maybe This Time is the perfect read to make your heart go mushy and to warm you up from the inside out! One of the most satisfying HEA's I've come across lately. In reading other reviews, it appears that a lot of people are having trouble with the personality of the main character, Jen. Jen is a contradiction. She's hard shelled...both in appearance and in actions. She's got lots of tatoos, dyes her hair different colors frequently, etc. She's been hurt a lot in her life and tries real hard to keep people at a distance with her sarcasm and snark. Under all that she's just someone who's been hurt a lot in her life and aches for love, just like everyone else. TJ, the hero, is a kind of preppy guy. He's always had a thing for Jen, but never acted on it. When he finally does, he is so protective and loving with her that it melts your heart. They have things to overcome, secrets to be dealt with and truths that need to be told. They really are perfect for each other, if only they can drop their defenses and admit the love that they feel. The scene at the end of the book in Chicago was my absolute favorite! Oh, my! It was comparable to two people running across a field toward each other with open arms. So great! Absolutely loved this book!

    Maybe This Time

I really enjoyed reading Maybe This Time by Nicole McLaughlin, part of her Whisky and Weddings series. Life has been difficult for Jen Mackenzie. Each time she gets knocked down she picks herself back up and tries again. Since losing her job when the community theater closed and trying to help her mother beat cancer, life and lack of finances are starting to catch up with her. Working at The Stag as a bartender and temporarily as the wedding venue planner has become her saving grace. Now if only TJ Laughlin, one of the owners and high school classmate, didn’t make her feel incompetent. TJ has cared for Jen since high school, albeit secretly. Being her boss and working closely with Jen made it difficult for TJ to watch her struggle. Jen views accepting help, especially from TJ, makes her weak, but TJ only sees beauty and strength. As things heat up, finally, between these two they need to learn that love is about communication as well as give and take. When Jen is offered a job of a lifetime will it destroy all she has with TJ or will they both learn that compromise might be the answer? I loved reading this story. Ms. McLaughlin is wonderful storyteller, keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. I felt for Jen and all the demands on her as well as lack of knowledge in knowing how to handle the stress. I recommend this great book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
