  • Didn’t love Renee

I feel like a need to preface this review with an explanation. I love Susan Mallery’s books. I’ve been reading them for years. In fact, she’s one of the contemporary romance authors I read when I switched sub genres years ago. I enjoy her humor, I like the pacing her couples are given to get to their HEA and I like how she writes their intimate moments...not behind closed doors, but certainly not overly graphic (although I read that stuff, too) I really liked Jasper! Does he understand women? Not so much, but he’s willing to learn and he’s not afraid to apologize (which he has to do a few times). He’s honest, he’s thoughtful and he’s sincere. My issues are with Renee. She’s high maintenance in that she’s extremely reactionary outside of her professional life. I get that she’s been hurt and is gun shy. But in the grand scheme of things, many others have been through way worse than she has. Not going to spoil plot points, but, her “secret” that se keeps hidden from friends...get over yourself! It’s not earth shattering, it’s not horrible and it should not have had the impact it does on both her own personality and her relationship. It’s not a bad book at all. I enjoyed touching base with previous Happily Inc couples and seeing where everyone is at in their lives. But for me, I couldn’t enjoy the main couple because Renee drove me loco! 4 stars for Jasper but Renee pushed it down a whole star for me.

  • Love is Magical

Love is magical in Happily Inc, and this is no exception. Renee is a wedding coordinator but does not want her own HEA, Justin is new to town and is a thriller writer but wants to add a love story to his work in progress, so Renee would be the perfect person to help. Jasper has suffered from PTSD from the military, so he is convinced that he is damaged in the relationship department. So what would be better the friends with benefits!! This is a sweet but sexy romance with plenty of humor, loved how their relationship developed. Loved catching up with previous characters. Wonderful friendships that have developed. Loved, loved the wedding. All animal lovers must read, loved Koda!!

  • Fun!

I really liked Renee and Jasper’s story. I thought it might be a little weird because of his history with Wynn, but it didn’t seem to be. Renee was super self-conscious because of her mother’s gift, and her history with it. I thought her mom was a fun addition to a story. The part with the giraffes was my favorite. Overall, I though it was a good read. The story seemed a little rushed, but I read it twice anyways.

  • Meant To Be Yours

This author has done it again! I was hooked from the beginning and I definitely needed this one at this time. I escaped into this one and turned those pages so fast it was a wonder the pages didn't rip right out of the book. Renee is a wedding planner who does not believe in romance or a happily ever after. Then she meets Jasper, the ex-military policeman with PTSD who is now a bestselling writer or thrillers who has an editor who is demanding his current book have a female romantic role and he has no idea how to write a woman because he has never been in love or knows how a woman thinks. When he proposes a friends with benefits scenario they both find something special, not what they think is going to happen because, of course, neither believes in happily ever after, but this is a happy ever after book! These characters are well developed and there are lots of secondary characters who make it absolutely entertaining. Even if you have not read the rest of the series, grab this one, it can be read as a standalone.

  • Renee should apologize, too!

Poor Jasper! Wynn was terrible to him, and he didn’t deserve it. Then he meets Renee and she’s even worse. And why am I taking sides? It doesn’t matter that Wynn has seen the error of her ways because she’s still steering Jasper wrong. Grow up Renee! You both have jobs to do, and your job is not more important than Jasper’s. Just because someone doesn’t see the world the way you do, doesn’t make them wrong. I’d throw the book against the wall if I wasn’t sure there would be a happily ever after. I’m completely addicted and won’t apologize. After all…who doesn’t love an underdog?
