There are better tales out there

I found this a bit sedating to read. Not sure if it was the writing style or the tales but one of them failed to get a great grip on my attention. Perhaps it would make a greater impression on younger readers? There was nothing here that would make me want to rush out and get any more books by this author.

    Awesome!

I figured when I started reading this book that I would either be laughing or crying at the stories .... I was. Loved it!

    Good read

A wondrous account of the unusual difficulties people have in small isolated communities and the ability of the Doctor to help them.

    A great read!

nonfiction, audiobook, medical, rural, short-stories Comprised of numerous reminiscences from multiple country doctors preferring to practice in the backwoods of Appalachia from the 1920's till fairly recently. With minimal alterations, the incidents could be backwoods NSW, Minnesota/Wisconsin, or Alberta. But then, I've been a nurse since the Revolutionary War (or at least the reenactments). I absolutely loved it! For some idiotic reason this has been hiding in my TBR pile since March 2016!
