    Great urban paranormal suspense

I loved how the streets of Baltimore came to life in this series. I look forward to reading more of Mencken's stories. I would have loved to see more character development for the 4 Prorectors (and Imani too) but maybe that comes later in the series. Also the ending was somewhat unsatisfying and didn't answer several questions e.g. who is controlling the monsters/Gilly and what is their stake in overrunning the city - beyond the obvious and cliched 'take over the world'? A couple of typos along the way but nothing too distracting All told it's a solid start to what looks to be a good series.

    Awesome Work of compelling

This work is excellent!! The work is compelling and engaging. The storyline has some implications that are profound. The themes of good verse evil, family, and heroism in the face of darkness are tremendous. Mencken is also an incredibly well-developed character whose investigations leave one wondering: "Who are the monsters?"

One of the best urban fantasy I read

This is one of the best urban fantasy books I've ever read, hands down. Now most books of this genre are in a rush to get the reader to fantastical because without it, the book suffers. Not so with this book. The book balances the narrative between normal and fantastical well, making an effort to gel both aspects into the plot. The cast of characters are well drawn and compelling, and the dialog is spot on. If I have one complaint, it's the strangeness of the epilogue, which created huge plot holes. Otherwise a great read
