  • Everything I could have hoped it would be

What does it say when you switch to print on the second to the last book in a series? That's right, all the other books I listened to in audio format. Why switch now? Because I really didn't want to wait for the audio version at this critical point in the series. Second to the last book people!! Things are heating up and near the final climax of the series. Who has time to wait? Not me, that's for sure. Big things happened in the last book. The reveal and demise of Sullivan's creator Balthazar (who turned out to be an imposter), finding out about the Circle and Adrian Reed, Merit developing some serious issues with the Red Guard, and finally Merit and her dad starting to have a better relationship. I mean, he gave up his big Tower plans to help out Merit. That's some love there. So what does this book bring? More of the same, but at the next level. What? You thought I would give spoilers? Shame on you for even thinking that. Midnight Marked celebrates the one year point since Merit was turned into a Vampire and not only shows us how far she has come, but hints at where she is going. I can't say enough good things about this book. I gave it 5 stars because it was everything I could have hoped it would be. Now just begins the agonizing wait for the final book. Thanks to Netgalley and NAL/Berkley Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

  • Midnight Marked

Trouble once again finds Ethan and Merit and this time they might have to sacrifice everything to win in a deadly game of cat and mouse in this spellbinding Chicagoland Vampires novel. Merit doesn’t scare easily but this new enemy that her and Ethan have made is out to own the city and he will use whatever he can to ensure that happens which leads to lot of exhilarating and action packed conflicts that has Cadogan House and all it’ allies scrambling to discover just what the evil mastermind’s plan is. The intriguing events guarantee that readers stay glued to the pages and on the edge of their seat because there is lots of twists and clues to be discovered on every page especially since the bad guy is so determined to burn the House down. The well written scenes spark the imagination with vivid detailing that makes it easy to picture each and every scene. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot is full of suspense, excitement and romance among the various couples in and friends of the House but Merit and Ethan are having a bit of a turmoil in their relationship which had me a tad bit worried. We get to visit with all the wonderful characters that we usually visit with and we are introduced to a few more colorful characters one of which sounds like she could fit right in with our favorites and then they are the ones that we have to add to our enemy list because they upset our lovable hero and heroine which of course makes for some interesting and emotionally turbulent times. Some of the intense moments of this story actually had me holding my breath with anticipation and worry, which made this visit to the Cadogan house one exhilarating experience that you don’t’ want to miss.

  • Read it!

Book review of Midnight Marked by Chloe Neill ... Book 12 of the Chicagoland Vampires series ... I have loved these books from the start ... they get better and better ... It is rewarding to see Merit grow a little each book and the slow burn of the Ethsn & Merit live story is perfect. These books are witty, well written and fun to read! Well done Chloe Neill !
