  • "Midnight Unleashed" - Book 14.7 - Midnight Breed

I just finished reading this novella February 18, 2018. This is my review. What a great addition to the Midnight Breed series. As part of the 1001 Dark Nights collection, this story can be read as a stand alone within the series but the story is connected to the other Midnight Breed novellas published in the 1001 Dark Nights collection. All the stories take place in Rome with Lazaro Archer ("Tempted by Midnight" - Book 12.5) as the leader of this group of the Breed. In this novella, the main characters are Trygg, a Gen One Breed male who was once a Hunter, and Tamisia (Sia), an Atlantean female who was banished from the Atlantean colony. Tamisia has been banished from her home and has been trying to redeem herself by working at a women's shelter in Rome. Trying to prove she's worthy to come back to the Atlantean colony. When a young woman is murdered, Sia feels like it's all her fault for not getting to the woman fast enough. She never expected Trygg to show up; a cold-hearted Breed male she met while she was staying with the Order. Determined to find out why the young woman was murdered, Sia finds herself working with Trygg to take down a powerful drug lord. Maybe this will prove she's worthy to go back home. But working with Trygg is an entirely different problem when she starts to have feelings for him and her feelings for a man is what got her banished in the first place. Trygg is on a mission to bring down a drug lord that's dealing Red Dragon, a drug specifically targeted for the Breed. He never expected Tamisia to ruin his stakeout. And now she's insisting on helping him? No way. Females can't be trusted. He learned that the hard way. So why does he feel the need to protect her? And why is he worried she may get hurt? He doesn't have time to worry about a female, he has to focus on his mission. But it's kind of hard to do that when she's just been assigned as his partner. I really enjoyed this novella. The story flows really well and is fast paced, keeping your attention the whole time. Trygg and Sia are passionate and steamy together. Sia is a woman trying to prove herself from past mistakes. Trygg is a male with a tortured and heartbreaking past, keeping himself closed off from any emotion. Both characters needing to learn to trust again. The overall story line was interesting and exciting, keeping the Red Dragon drug story line continuous from the previous 1001 Dark Nights Midnight Breed novellas. I greatly enjoyed this novella and look forward to reading the next full book in the series and more novellas as well. I definitely recommend reading this novella as well as the entire Midnight Breed series.

  • Highly recommended

Love it! Lara does it again. I find her writing and her books highly addictive. And I get so disappointed when I reach the end of the book. Please keep on writing.
