    Good but Flawed

While I enjoyed this well enough to keep reading all the way through to the end, I had a few problems with it that almost drove me crazy. **Spoilers** When a "pregnant" woman gets killed and it looks like "murder" the coroner would do a DNA test on the baby. There was definitely mention of an autopsy, there was no effort on Wade Tate's part to track down the father (and obvious suspect). When Titus Moore's wife is murdered there would have been a reason for a DNA test and judging by his lack of character, and willingness to incriminate himself with Milicent while they're alone together, I'm sure the case would have been over much earlier. Wade Tate sucks at his job. Aside form this obvious lead being overlooked, I also have a problem with (so many) mystery stories that try to force an action-packed showdown with the killer. It always seems like these endings are shoe-horned in with the hopes of selling the story to Hollywood. This tale should probably have ended with Millicent finding Miss Vinnie, so the story, though short, dragged on for me since the murderer was was pretty obvious from almost the beginning of the story.
