    Can work and play mix?

Misadventures with the Boss by Kendall Ryan is a standalone story in the Misadventures series. Piper Daniels is new to NYC and her sister is insisting that she get out of her apartment and meet people. So insistent in fact that she sets up a profile for her on a dating app and gets Piper a date with someone looking to hook up. Piper decides to actually go on the date and Jackson, the super hot and in charge guy, who she meets gives her a night of passion that she will never forget. The only problem is that in the elevator for her first day of a new job she sees Jackson again and soon learns that he is Jackson Dane. a.k.a. Mr. Dane. The CEO. Her new boss. Jackson can't get his hot date out of his mind and when she ends up being his assistant it provides extra torture. Once he devises a plan to get what he wants, and he always gets what he wants, he and Piper have a, mostly, professional relationship at work, and a raucously intimate one in every other moment, but as things go this casual hook up becomes more than just that as they work together and sleep together. I enjoyed how each character grew the more they spent time with the other. This was a fast read, but it works because the characters are intelligent and driven and able to adapt and overcome their initial issues. When they run into problems it is because they genuinely care for the other and want to do what's right, even if it hurts them. I enjoyed the interactions between Piper and Jackson and seeing their relationship become more. Overall, I recommend Misadventures with the Boss by Kendall Ryan as a fast, hot, sensual, romance novel. This one night stand, to work place hookup, to happily every after was fun, intelligent and passionate. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

    Cute, funny, and steamy!

4.5☆ I feel like I blew through Misadventures with the Boss. It was a really fast read and very enjoyable. Piper is kinda shy and a homebody, while Jackson has this strong, commanding personality. They seem very different from one another, but as they get to know each other they just click and make sense. Side note, I love Piper's organizational side and how she just took over Jackson's office and made it 1000 times better. She's amazing at her job and picks up on it so fast. Piper and Jackson's relationship progresses quickly, but it worked for them and their situation. The speed bump at the end surprised me for sure, but I really liked what it added to the story. It made the characters come to some realizations about themselves. My one complaint is that I wish the epilogue wasn't just a page and a half. I would have liked more from them and their life now.

    Captivating and sexy standalone

**I read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** Kendall Ryan has delivered a captivating and sexy standalone in the "Misdaventures" series! Piper Daniels is looking to start over. After a tough break-up, she's ready to begin a new job in a brand new city, but to say her social life is still lacking is an understatement. With her family back at home, she relies on calls with her sister to stay connected to them. Her sister realizes that instead of getting out to experience her new city, she's sitting at home alone. To help her out, Piper's sister sets up a blind date for her though a dating app hoping this will help her sister acclimate faster. Jackson Dane is a successful businessman and CEO who is certainly not lacking in the hotness department. He's focused on a new merger that is on the horizon and there isn't much else on his mind with the exception of finding a woman who is willing to go to bed with him. He's been in a bit of a drought and he turns to setting up a blind date to take care of his needs. When Piper and Jackson meet the evening turns steamy very quickly. The two end up exactly where Jackson hopes and while it isn't something Piper generally does, she certainly isn't sorry it happened. Well, until the next morning when she shows up at her new job and she discovers that Jackson is her boss. Will these two be able to work together or is it all going to end badly because of one night that they both don't regret? This is one of my favorite "Misadventures" books. I enjoyed how the relationship between Piper and Jackson morphed over the course of the book. There was definite growth and it was wonderful to see how both characters made strides both individually and as a couple. I highly recommend picking this one up!

    Fun, flirty office romance

Kendall Ryan is a one click author for me for several reasons. I know her books are going to be fun, hot and sexy. Misadventures with the Boss was definitely all of those and I truly enjoyed it. I love the way that Piper and Jackson initially meet one another. It absolutely set the tone for me to see who these characters were and what they wanted, or what they thought they wanted. It was scorching hot and the connection between them was immediate and absolutely worked. There was a sizzle that just seemed right for them. But of course things don't end there. I had to grin when these two realized they'd be seeing more of each other. Watching them figure out how to handle an office romance-when that isn't what either of them wanted-was a lot of fun. The way the scenario played out in this book seemed plausible. It fit these characters perfectly. This was a fun, fast read for me. I thought the pacing worked well and I really liked the characters. I liked the plot-office romances aren't hard to come by but well written ones can be-and this is definitely well written. I recommend this book.
