  • Review: Mister O

Mister O by Lauren Blakely is the stand-alone follow up to Big Rock. Both books can absolutely be enjoyed by themselves, but, I'm a stickler for order so thats how I read them. Mister O is the story of Nick Hammer, nerdy cartoonist with a hit prime time animated series and Harper Holiday, magician. Yes, a cartoonist and a magician. intrigued already right? Nick and Harper are friends in their own right but Nick is Best Friends with Spencer, Harper's brother. Oooh, you say, best friends sister romance? Yeah! Smokin' hawt!!!!! Harper is bit of a nerd herself. Totally comfortable on stage performing her magic, she bumbles and slurs anytime there is a man around shes attracted to. Nick has had Harper on constant play in his spank-bank ever since they day they tricked her brother into thinking they were together as a favor for Harper and some evil, sister-payback plan. The memory of her hands all over his arms **steam**. So despite their great friendship, he knows she's off limits, except, she asks him to show her how to woo a man. She wants to date but doesn't have much opportunity to meet guys, and when she does, she can barely speak one intelligible word. Nick jumps on board and the games begin. Lauren Blakely infuses this book with so much wonderful wit, banter and nerdy quirkiness - it was awesome. I loved every single letter. HIGHLY recommend this and also read Big Rock first.

  • Dazzling, Addictive, and Unforgettable!

4 Stars | Hot Steam I usually shy away from romantic comedies. However, based upon author Lauren Blakely’s uncanny ability to deliver incomparable heat and the promise of an all-male POV experience—my own personal catnip—I took a leap. And, whoa, did I LOVE it! Within just a few enticing chapters, I found myself eagerly devouring Nick and Harper’s thoughtful, buoyant, and blistering story—one of this season’s most swoon-inducing surprises! Phenomenally descriptive fantasy sex, a stellar, hotter-than-the-sun hero, and a smart, endearing, and refreshingly unconventional and empowered heroine mix impeccably together in Blakely’s delightful scorcher of a friends-to-lovers romance. Light-hearted, playful, endlessly fun, and so, so romantic, I was positively smitten with Nick and Harper’s luminous love affair—replaying their luscious encounters in my dreams all night long! Mature, driven, bright, charming, self-possessed, respectful, and so delectably masculine, I felt it all over—Nick’s a rare modern gentleman. He’s the kind of man you wish for. He’s the kind of man who celebrates the lucky women in his life. He treats Harper as a worthy and vital counterpart, his equal, his saucy muse, his singular treasure and, with her panting and moaning consent, his wild and wicked playground. And his passion, his skill, focus, and flat-out revelry of Harper? Oh my goodness my e-reader was on fire! Nick worships every inch of her with glory and adoration. He’s a rock-hard and insatiable softy for her. Her pleasure is his pleasure. Because he loves, loves, loves, so much! I cherished Nick as he fell harder and harder for Harper—in pain to discover her thoughts—and praying for her to feel the same way too. He’s so sizzling sweet, I wanted him for my very own. Take this dreamy quote from one of my many, many favorite scenes from MISTER O and sigh for yourself: * * * * * “What would you do if I kissed you right now?” I ask not because I’m unsure, not because I’m worried she doesn’t want it, but because she likes to talk about kissing, I’ve learned. She’s feathery soft as she answers me, “I would probably melt.” Or maybe I will. * * * * * I definitely melted.:) A million kudos to Lauren Blakely! She’s got mouth-watering-male concentrate on lock! Nick’s beautifully naughty mind is a lusty reader’s paradise. Dazzling, addictive, and unforgettable! Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

  • Nick and Harper Have My Heart

They say men have sex on the brain 99.99 percent of the time. You're not going to catch me trying to dispute that...In my case, though-and I suppose, in my defense-sex is part of my job. Well, heck, Lauren Blakely, when your main man opens with this statement, where can things go but up? I have to admit that, having fallen so completely in love with BIG ROCK when it came out, I had high hopes for MISTER O. I mean, just the title-how could it be anything but great? Well, no surprise, Lauren has artfully delivered another wonderful friends-to-lovers story, complete with characters that I wish I could actually spend time with, sizzling chemistry, and a repeat performance by the inestimable Fido, king among cats. Nick Hammer (yes, that's his real name, thank you very much), cartoonist extraordinaire, and best friend of Spencer Holliday of BIG ROCK fame, finds himself in a fix. See, he's ready to cross a line, that line that says that you don't mess with your best friend's sister. But Nick can't help himself, because Harper Holliday has had the starring role in Nick's late night fantasies and early morning shower time for quite a while. Harper Holiday. Red hair. Blue eyes. Face of a sweet, sexy angel, body of a badass, ninja-warrior princess, and a mouth adept at pitch-perfect delivery of sarcasm. I'd play Dirty Synonyms, Dirty Antoynyms...Dirty Anything with her. Yep, Nick definitely has Harper on the brain, and when she comes to him for help in the romance department, he can't say yes quickly enough. I have to admit to having a mad girl crush on Harper. I mean, she's a magician. Like, sleight of hand, pull Skittles out of your ear, do it for a living magician. Totally badass, indeed. The fact that she's looking for schooling in the love department just makes her more endearing. I want to look into someone's eyes and feel like he knows me, gets me, understands me. I want him to see my quirks and accept them, not try to change them. I want to know what that's like. Not so much to ask for, right? And, before he knows what's hit him, Nick wants to be that guy, because, when he least expects it, this quirky, sexy, Princess of Many Faces has grabbed his heart, and he's so gone. Lauren continues to write books that engage and delight from the first page, and there is not one of her characters that does not reside in my heart. MISTER O continues the Lauren legacy, and I could not have asked for a better follow-up book in this series. A well-deserved 5+-stars for MISTER O, and lots of left over warm fuzzies and smiles for me. Next up, WELL HUNG, where Nick's brother Wyatt gets his story, and I cannot wait. If you haven't started these books, do it now. They are not to be missed.
