  • Fun mystery and romance in Florida

I loved travelling to Florida in this book to solve a mystery where the investigators are two charismatic people who are really special. Private investigator Wendy Osceola finds herself helping Chief Deputy Jackson Cypress to unravel a most unusual mystery which involves (you heard right!) the death of a boa constrictor, a murder at Universal Studios, the Japanese word ikkai, and many other fun and simply surprising clues… Both Wendy and Jackson are definitely special, not only because of their heritage – they are Native Americans and members of a Miccosukee tribe, but also because they are both werepanthers…I read many shifter romance books, but this is definitely the first I read about werepanthers….There is great chemistry between these two (very hot) leads – who are equally fascinating in their human and in their panther form. The story is fast-paced and the twists and turns of the mystery plot keep you on your toes. I laughed out loud at the antics of a secondary character - Tiffany - who reminded me of Alicia Silverstone’s character in Clueless. Most of all, this is not a stereotypical book, but one which creates a real sense of place. It transported me to a different, fun place at a time when I really wanted to travel and get away from all the anxiety this year has held for all of us…So, to me this was a much-needed mental escape to Florida (which proved to be not only a sunny place, but also a very intriguing, complex setting). It was also a challenging book with a mystery plot that I don’t think I should reveal. So – no spoiler alert here… ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review
