A well-written and lively Western romance

Sometimes, even negative attention is good attention, and the more Jessamine McMahon pokes at Ewan MacKinnon in her newspaper articles, the more attention he gives her. Underneath his devil-may-care attitude, Ewan is a romantic and caring man. Despite Jessamine's barbs against him, when she needs his protection, he gives it to her, keeping her safe when no-one else will. As a newspaper lady in early Montana, Jessamine has a difficult path to forge for herself, especially as she has her own secrets. Little by little, those who have been able to breach her defenses, show her that she can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, and she begins to look below the surface of things. There is wit, humour and underlying heartache in this romance, especially for those who have been used and abused by some of the less than charitable characters in the book. The story clipped along at a lively pace and I was kept enthralled throughout, finding it difficult to put the book down. The characters were realistic and I especially loved big, bad Ewan MacKinnon. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    A Delightful Historical Read

A delightful historical read. The characters were interesting and well developed. It kept me wondering all the way through what was going to happen next. This is a standalone book. I received this book as a member of the author's ARC team for a review.
