  • Wonderful summer read

This is the third book in a fantastic series by Claire Marti. Cameron Taylor returns home after his deployment from the middle east. He's a hero but physically and mentally scarred. But this hero doesn't rest on his laurels. He runs a luxury hotel with his best friends. Oh and one other person. Lucy Goodwin, a woman - to his surprise - he hasn't been able to forget. Lucy is well aware of her track record of being engaged and then -- well, not. Her one true love was Cameron Taylor; he left her with her own emotional scars. This is a great second-chance romance. It will keep you reading until the end. And it'll totally be worth it!

  • A great second-chance-at-love romance!

Claire Marti is one of my favorite contemporary romance authors, and I really enjoyed this latest installment in her California Suits series. It’s a spin-off from her Pacific Vista Ranch series, which is also wonderful––if you haven’t read those books give yourself a treat and read them too. The California Suits series is about a group of friends starting up a chain of boutique hotels, and each finding their true love in the process. We’ve seen Cameron, the main character in Monterey King, in previous installments of the series and my curiosity about him was piqued, so I loved having the opportunity to read his story. He gets a second chance at his first love, when he learns he will be working with Lucy at the new hotel his friends and he are opening in Monterey. Lucy is as cheerful as Cameron is grumpy and they’ve been apart a long time, but neither has really gotten over the other. Will they be able to make it work this time around? As with all Marti’s books, the writing is exquisite, the characters (even the secondary ones) are well-rounded and real, and the settings are described so beautifully that I always feel like I’ve taken a fabulous trip to California when I’ve finished one. Give yourself a treat and take a vacation to Monterey in the pages of Marti’s latest novel. I highly recommend it.

  • Absolutely Amazing and Emotional Read

This is book three in The California Suits series and it is Cameron and Lucy's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Cameron and Lucy have history as they used to be so in love only for Cameron to push Lucy away to go into the army breaking both of there heart's. Cameron has finished in the army after being injured and has many scars to show for it but now working with his best friend's his new career brings him face to face with Lucy the woman that he never forgot or stopped loving but he is a different person now and has walls that are built so high around him that it will take a lot to bring them down and let anyone in but Lucy is determined that she will be the person that gets through to Cameron after all she never stopped loving him and she wants a second chance and a happy ending with him but will she succeed in the end or will everything crash and burn around them leaving them missing out on something special well only time will tell what the outcome will be for them. Omg this series is just getting better and better with each book written and I can't wait to read more as they are so addictive and real page turner's that you don't want to miss reading and you will definitely not be disappointed. I Voluntarily Reviewed a Copy of This Book.

  • A second chance romance you won't want to miss!

Monterey King is a fantastic addition to the California Suits series! Cameron Tyler, our scarred and emotionally/mentally battered MMC is so easy to root for as he adjusts to life after his career in the military…and even though he broke Lucy Goodwin’s heart. But Lucy is no wilting violet, and has overcome adversities and built a successful career for herself as a wedding planner. Watching her try to navigate her new working relationship with Cameron, her high school sweetheart and the man who still holds her heart, was so angsty and satisfying to read. Claire Marti writes characters that are fleshed out and feel so real, and then she places them in emotional storylines that suck you in as a reader, and this newest installment was no different. If you are a fan of second chance romances, like am, you won't want to miss Monterey King!

  • My heart broke for them both

Lucy’s heart broke into a million pieces thanks to Cameron but several years later, can these high school sweethearts hang onto their second chance at love? Lucy’s worked hard to get to where she is and she won’t let anyone, including ex-boyfriend Cameron, stop her. Her childhood cancer taught her to be strong and never give up. As a wedding planner, she has the skills to make this boutique hotel the 'it' place to get married. All she has to do is concentrate on the illustrious wedding at hand and keep her distance from Cameron. The tension between them is thick and the temptation is far too great. Is Lucy ready to risk it all for love or will she back away to safeguard her heart? Monterey King is an emotional second-chance romance by one of today’s leading romance authors. I've read several Claire Marti books and each one takes my romantic heart on an epic journey. Monterey King is Claire Marti’s newest release, and it is her pinnacle romance. From the first page to the last, the descriptive narration swept me away to Monterey. Claire Marti has a keen sense of how to plunge the reader into the setting and she makes the reading experience truly memorable. As I was reading, I felt like I was there, even down to the chilly breezes blowing and the scent of flowers wafting over me. The main characters, Lucy and Cam, are so expertly written, that they became a part of me. My heart broke for them both over and over. Claire Marti weaves an emotional grumpy/sunshine romance that’ll make you feel every emotion. One of my favorite parts of this book is the ability of Lucy to bring Cam to his knees and vice versa. It’s that vulnerability when it comes to love that Claire Marti expresses through her writing. A beautiful second-chance romance with all the feels, Monterey King needs to be your next summer read. Highly recommend! Disclaimer: I received a copy from the author in the hopes I'd review it. My thoughts are all my own. My Rating: 5+ stars
