    Mothers and daughters

Really lovely story, although the outcome was obvious this didn't spoil it. I was interesting to see all the twists and turns and anguishes of the, mostly, lovely characters. An easy read.

    A slog

Very disappointing read. Characters are one-dimensional and there is a LOT of repetition of the same thoughts, worries and conversations. Full of run-on sentences, bad grammar and typo's. The dialogue is stiff and often unnecessary. Worst of all, though, is the main character. She's supposed to be in her early forties with a bit of a wild streak but reads like a neurotic, fearful seventy-something, talking about 'back when she was young and things were different' as if it wasn't twenty years ago. To top it off, both twenty-something daughters are selfish, vapid idiots who can't properly communicate and have the emotional depth and development of a pre-teen.
