Society says no, she says heck no

entertaining story that includes a Big, Beautiful, Woman handling all that life throws a woman of her size. Accepting it, not taking the usual comments, proving that no matter what size of clothes a woman wears, it doesn't automatically mean failure. It also includes, what the book states, a man slut. But he sees no harm in having sex as he leaves them satisfied and is out front that it's just for sex and fun with no entanglements. But one day he's told that he has never felt love and will always be a man slut. With that on his mind, he hears a man talking to a BBW in a very awful manner and goes to her aid by pretending to be her boyfriend. This incident leads to many serious and hilarious situations down the road when they both come to an agreement of "pretend." They both come to the realization that what they think is not always true and must deal with the consequences. I've already given you too much, let me just say this is a terrific story of a strong woman, a story that needs to be told more often. Whether their story leads to love or unhappiness isn't the point, the point is that their story needs to be told. I've been one of those women for the better part of 60 years and have rarely seen a book from the point of view of a not perfect size woman, but one who is smart and not afraid to speak her mind and live her life. Kudos to the author, Avery Flynn, for giving us a wonderful story filled with the pain we fill, but also with the happiness and pleasure that is out there for all of us.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!

This is a story about excepting yourself for who you are and not worrying about what others see on the outside. I loved this story because it throws away the norm of what a romance heroine should look like and explores the science of attraction. Lucy is a big girl who has been through a lot regarding her weight and has become defensive rather than let anyone hurt her again. Frankie is a hot fireman who sees past Lucy's body to the person inside but has a tough time getting Lucy to believe him. This story is heartfelt, steamy and thought provoking. Every romance loving woman out there should grab this book and enjoy Frankie and Lucy's journey to loving themselves and loving each other.

    Must read

Avery Flynn has a way of writing great romantic comedies and then kicking them up a notch with amazing characters you won't soon forget. The characters in this book are extraordinary and the story although emotional at times was also fun and light hearted. Lucy was one tough lady and probably the only one that could tame Frankie's wild womanizing ways. Put this on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

    Love this series!

The Hartigans I absolutely love the Hartigan family!! Every single one of them!  Thank you Ms. Flynn for creating them! I also want to thank you for writing stories about women who don't meet society's ideals of the "perfect" woman.  It makes my heart and soul feel good! As a "Muffin Top" myself it's encouraging to see us fluffy gals get the love and alpha male that they deserve too! This is the story of Frankie and Lucy.  And what a fantastic story it is. Lucy is a full figured gal, a fluffy gal, a Muffin Top.  I so empathize with her mantra of strike first with the derogatory comments about herself to save herself.  She has some baggage she has been carrying since she was a child and has tried to become a better person because if it! She is fierce, she is spicy, and she is honest and not afraid of not sugarcoating the truth to spare feelings.  I wish I was more like her in that way! Frankie is a player personified. He thinks he has everything in his life just how he wants it until a former plaything gives him a dose of reality that makes him rethink his view on his world.  He too has baggage that has made him the man he is and it can be a blessing and a curse. In addition to the fantastic love brewing between Frankie and Lucy, it's also about family and how they will be there for you for everything. I loved Lucy's dad, and Gussie the dog! Absolutely hysterical and so thought provoking! As always the secondary characters bring so much more to the story and make you want a friends and family just like them. This story is also fabulously funny! It's real, honest and makes me love it even more! Thank you again Ms. Flynn for bringing these characters to life! With their flaws, fabulous sense of humor and realism it makes me crave more!!

    4 star road trip romance

Muffin Top by Avery Flynn was yet another quirky, sweet and sexy story. I loved how Frankie fell for Lucy even when he was telling himself she wasn’t his type, she was getting under his skin and worming her way into his psyche, and that’s without even trying or knowingly doing it. Lucy was given the nickname Muffin Top by her dad when she was a toddler. But unfortunately the name followed her throughout her school life and ended up being used against her because she wasn’t the skinny little thing expected by society. Now, a grown woman, she’s sexy, curvy and has to fight for her right to just be who she is. Frankie, on the other hand, is Mr. Sexy Firefighter and has woman falling at his feet, but he’s getting bored with that life and wants more. These two barely know each other, but when Frankie sees Lucy being verbally lambasted by a douchebag, he can’t help going to her aid and in the process, invites himself along to her high school reunion as her plus one. Lucy isn’t sure she wants to go to her reunion. It means an eighteen hour drive but Frankie won’t take no for an answer. One road trip later and the stakes are getting high. Can these two opposites stay just friends or will fate continue to lend a hand and give them the happy ever after the both are looking for? This was a wonderfully light-hearted tale with a sprinkling of angst, both Frankie and Lucy have some baggage that’s holding them back. They have one week together and it doesn’t take long before they are both falling. This was a kinda slow burning story, with some witty banter, each giving as good as they got. But, their chemistry was through the roof, HAWT and not to be denied but what will happen when the return to their real lives. Can these two make it to the end? Grab your copy and out today
