  • murder, mystery and intertainment

Very enjoyable way to take your mind of the world and its challenges, filled with interesting and well developed characters. A murder mystery to sink your teeth into with a few red herrings thrown in for good measure. This should have you guessing for a goodly portion of the book if not right up until be big reveals. If you enjoyed CJ's other books this one will not disappoint if you enjoyed the mini series Miss Scarlett and the Duke you really enjoy this book, similar but in some ways better. Can't wait for the next thrilling instalment it should be fun.

  • Typical CJ Archer feminist fare. Good mystery.

As expected in any C.J. Archer book we have the recurring them of a strong, intelligent woman in a society that doesn't want women to have any role outside of the home. We once again return to a setting in Victoria era London this time in 1899 in a book where there is no magic or "ministry of curiosities". The mystery in the book is fairly compelling. I look forward to the next book in the series.

  • Murder at the Mayfair Hotel

Enjoyed Cleo's character. Even though her life had changed and money was no longer a problem, she still wanted to be able to do something and did it wonderfully.
