“And even then, do I want to get involved with a man who's got all that turmoil?" "There are no men who don't, Lize. No men who don't.” True words that sum up this true to life romance. Question for divorcee Mariliz Jennings - is her boss/troubled-soon-to-be-single-father/red-hot-Wilder drummer, Alex Beaumont, a man with a heaping helping of turmoil, worth the risk? The position as the Beaumont family’s nanny couldn’t have come at a better time for Mariliz, struggling to make ends meet as a single woman who put her career on hold a little too long thanks to her cheating ex-husband. It seems tailor made for her skills as a sign language interpreter. But 2 year deaf toddler old Sophie Beaumont has a reputation as a terror and has run off multiple nannies, and, apparently, her own mother. Turns out Sophie’s has never been exposed to sign language. Perplexed, but not one to shy away from a challenge, Mariliz works hard to reach the isolated girl, make life more stable for sister Olivia (who’s taken on more responsibility than any 8 year old should), all the while waiting to hear from Papa Alex who’s on tour with the band and Mama Bridget who never seems to be around – unless you count the odd tabloid sightings in exotic locales with men who aren’t her husband. She never wanted to get tied up in the family’s drama, but with Sophie’s future on the line, and kind-hearted but beautifully broken Alex too wounded to resist, she can’t walk away. Alex Beaumont’s life has been on a downward spiral for a long time, ever since Sophie’s deafness, his wife’s choice to run away from their ‘problems’ after he checked out emotionally. He admits his faults and wants to put his life back together, but it may be too little too late. When Bridget forces him to choose between her and their daughter, he knows it’s over. And he can finally have what he wants – a chance with Mariliz, the woman who brought him back to his girls and healed what’s left of his family. But being in the middle of a nasty celebrity divorce is no time to bang the nanny. Can Mariliz walk away from the family she’s come to love and the man who’s touched her heart? And can Alex give up the best thing that’s ever happened to him and his family, even if keeping her is a risk? Real, raw, gritty, and a cannot-put-down kind of unconventional romance!

Ends the series with a good strong story

I felt the romance was second to the family drama, but for these characters it fits them. Alex has really grown up since the first book. He doesn't give the thrill ride we got with TJ's story, instead, we get a man struggling to do what's right for his children, and become a better person for it. Romance doesn't happen in a vacuum with the rest of the world dissolving away, and Savannah Kade proves that by giving us a romance that includes the family. We get adorable children to fall in love with. No wonder Lize falls for the entire family. I'm sad to read the end of the Wilder books, but this completed the series nicely.
