    Love in uncertain times

Medieval England was not for the faint-hearted. This historical romance brought into focus how precarious life was in those uncertain times, with the King dictating marriages. Prestige was measured by the amount of land you owned and the alliances made by marriage. It was particularly difficult for women who had fewer rights than men. Catrin had so many losses through the death of her close family and friend, that her anger and defiance are understandable. It was an anger that I could relate to as I have had my share of loss. When Catrin stood in her cousin's place to marry Bran, she placed the future of her marriage and her family in jeopardy by defying the King. Her hatred towards Bran had roots in the rumours being circulated about him, and without proof otherwise, Catrin needed to get to the bottom of the murders of those closest to her. Bran was a hardened warrior, but he needed Catrin and despite her animosity, found himself falling in love with her. This suspenseful novel kept me engrossed right up until the end, when the truth was revealed by an unexpected source. The dynamic between Bran and Catrin was tangible, despite Catrin's attempts to keep her distance and Bran was an incredibly patient man! I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. A Great Read

I voluntarily received and reviewed an Exclusive Copy of this book for an honest review. This story is set within the historical 1283 along the Marcher lands bordering Wales. It was well written with mystery, betrayal, love and passion. The emotional road with Brian and Catrin was truly intriguing, although as I might have said earlier, I'm not into historical novels. It was surprising that I was unable to lay this book down as I had others to read it later. Lady Catrin Fitzalen was doomed to marry someone not of her choice; therefore, she choose to connive her own plan. She convinced her cousin, Olwen to flee to the nunnery after an attack on them. She wanted revenge for her father and twin brother death and the King's champion was her target. Bran ap Margo better known as the King's Raven, a persona given to him. Bran is a bastard son of a Welsh prince, who wanted respect, land and a spouse. He wanted to know who'd scandal his name. This is a great read and I recommend it if you're into historical novel. The author writing is astounding
