    My Promised Land

This is an amazing book. A must read for all who both support and critique the State of Israel. Ari helps us look at the dark places within the recent Jewish past, to face them, to accept them, and how to go beyond them.

    A deeply engaging book

This book explores the many facets of Israel through the stories of remarkable people who have contributed to making the country the amazing and vital paradox that it is today. It lays out clearly the existential challenges faced by the Israeli people today. I was enthralled by this book. The writing is evocative and powerful. I bought the book based on what Thomas Friedman said about it, even though I believe Friedman's insights on the Middle East are shallow and often completely wrong--based largely upon what Friedman learns during rounds of golf with wealthy Levantine industrialists.
