    Confusing

This story was hard to follow. So many things didn’t make sense. It felt to me like there was a lot of missing information that I was assumed to understand as a reader but I didn’t. Characters, especially Gen, changed opinions about things for no understandable reason, making her (and others) fickle. It was hard to understand their behaviour.

    Great

Based on the 12 days of Christmas song Alan courts Genevieve with a few twists along the way. Good clean (except the mud) read.

    12 days of Christmas courting

A cute premise - Alan wagers to win Genevieve’s hand in marriage by the Epiphany if he manages to give his true love 12 days of Christmas gifts sung about in the carol. If he loses Gen wins harvest tithes from her family’s historical estates to provide financial security for her mother and sister. Funny, sweet, a little frustrating and not entirely predictable. Perfect for Christmas.
