an amazing start to an addicting series

When I saw that Sarah Castille was writing a Mafia series I was ecstatic for two reasons. First, I love Mafia stories and second, the fact that she wrote it. That’s an outstanding combination in my opinion! This was a fantastic read and I’m anxious for more of this series! Family wars, revenge and vendetta’s all make for an action packed story that held my attention right to the end! I absolutely loved all of the characters in this book, even the “really bad” guys had some appeal in their own way. Mia is a kick-a$$ heroine and I couldn’t love her more if I tried. She’s led a really horrible life at the hands of her father and that has made her into the strong, feisty, take no shit woman she is today. She also has a heart of gold and would do anything to protect her sister, mother and her friends. Nico is dangerous, deadly, honorable, respectable and even though he didn’t realize it until Mia came back into his life, he’s a very caring man. Mia and Nico met when they were teenagers, under the worst circumstances. When they meet again as adults, you can tell the chemistry that was there when they were teens only got stronger with time because now, it’s off the charts! We get a lot of background to the story in the first half of the book. It had some potential to get a little confusing at times but once the real meat of the story started to take place, it all fell into place and just made perfect sense. Knowing what I know now, I feel it was a necessity or else the actual plot would’ve been lacking. As it is, this was an amazing start to what’s proving to be an addicting series!

Absolutely loved this story! Every single page of it. If this is how the entire series will be we are in for a fantastic ride! The series is set in Vegas with factions within families warring for control as well as families warring against each other. Revenge is at the core of this story but when Nico Toscani falls for Mia Cordano, the daughter of his enemy, who Nico is seeking revenge against is distorted and the need not as powerful as his need for Mia. Mia is a strong, independent woman who has been struggling to remove herself from her controlling and very powerful father. She never played the role of Mafia princess well so falling for a top ranking Capo definitely wasn't in her plan. Put this one on the must read list, it's fantastic! I highly recommend it.

    Mafia Romance

Nico by Sarah Castille Ruin and Revenge #1 Hot alpha males abound in this book and each one deserves to have his story told! I applaud Ms Castille for creating a book that does not make the Mafia a nice place but a place that some call home and why they might do so. In some ways Mia Cardano and Nico Toscani have a bit of the Romeo and Juliet going on for them since they are from feuding (Mafia crime) families and even have a blood feud going on BUT in other ways the two are so much stronger than Shakespeare’s hero and heroine and their story a whole lot darker. Neither have had an easy life and both have expectations put on them by their families that do not go along with their own. They walk a tightrope that should a misstep be made while crossing could be the end of them. Mia is smart, strong, savvy, sensual and a handful unwilling to be the “Mafia Princess” or even pretend to play the part – she pays for that. Nico has a crew that he trusts and is high up in the Toscani family BUT with his father dead and others in the family holding the power-seat he believes he should be in things are a bit dicey from time to time. Set in Las Vegas with more than one Mafia family wanting to be the only player there is a lot going on. This first book sets things up for the power plays that will no doubt occur in the future books of the series and also provides a HEA for Nico and Mia. I loved this book, look forward to reading the next in the series and would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This is my honest review. 5 Stars
