an amazing start to an addicting series

When I saw that Sarah Castille was writing a Mafia series I was ecstatic for two reasons. First, I love Mafia stories and second, the fact that she wrote it. That’s an outstanding combination in my opinion! This was a fantastic read and I’m anxious for more of this series! Family wars, revenge and vendetta’s all make for an action packed story that held my attention right to the end! I absolutely loved all of the characters in this book, even the “really bad” guys had some appeal in their own way. Mia is a kick-a$$ heroine and I couldn’t love her more if I tried. She’s led a really horrible life at the hands of her father and that has made her into the strong, feisty, take no shit woman she is today. She also has a heart of gold and would do anything to protect her sister, mother and her friends. Nico is dangerous, deadly, honorable, respectable and even though he didn’t realize it until Mia came back into his life, he’s a very caring man. Mia and Nico met when they were teenagers, under the worst circumstances. When they meet again as adults, you can tell the chemistry that was there when they were teens only got stronger with time because now, it’s off the charts! We get a lot of background to the story in the first half of the book. It had some potential to get a little confusing at times but once the real meat of the story started to take place, it all fell into place and just made perfect sense. Knowing what I know now, I feel it was a necessity or else the actual plot would’ve been lacking. As it is, this was an amazing start to what’s proving to be an addicting series!

    Awesome

Absolutely loved this story! Every single page of it. If this is how the entire series will be we are in for a fantastic ride! The series is set in Vegas with factions within families warring for control as well as families warring against each other. Revenge is at the core of this story but when Nico Toscani falls for Mia Cordano, the daughter of his enemy, who Nico is seeking revenge against is distorted and the need not as powerful as his need for Mia. Mia is a strong, independent woman who has been struggling to remove herself from her controlling and very powerful father. She never played the role of Mafia princess well so falling for a top ranking Capo definitely wasn't in her plan. Put this one on the must read list, it's fantastic! I highly recommend it.

    Excellent!!

Excellent writing! I really enjoyed this book. It is a good mafia read with not to much darkness but just the right amount! I loved how the female characters have lots of sass and can put the alpha males in their place!!

a kind of not so weird Lisbeth Salander

I am a developer and a Goth, so I really loved Mia the female main character of this story. Finally a woman who like her independence, does regrettably still not typical work for a woman and is successful in it. She shuns the golden cage of her Mafia family parentage until one day she gets caught up in it. Mia reminds my of Lisbeth Salander although she is less damaged and therefore less weird. Since we are talking romance here the sizzeling between the soon to be couple already starts in the first pages and continues well through the book. What I also liked: They care about protection ( and I am not talking guns here) and have no virginity cult going. A nice side character for me was the figure of Big Joe.
