  • Wonderful new series!

This is the first book in The McKenzies of Ridge Trail series and it is an edgy romance that reminded me of her other series The Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor. I will caution those with triggers to proceed with care as the story opens with a vividly detailed scene. Sterling is a truck driver and spends her time driving up and down seeking women who may be taken against their will. Cade is a bartender who has a second sense when it comes to Sterling as if there is more to her than meets the eye. To say that these two have heat is an understatement. Filled with action and drama this is one book to add to your tbr list. As an avid reader of Ms. Foster’s books, she once again delivers relatable characters that anyone can fall for and handles a sensitive topic with aplomb. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! I volunteered to read a copy of this book provided by Netgalley.

  • Excellent!

No Holding Back by Lori Foster The McKenszies of Ridge Trail #1 Sweet story with a whole lot more to it than I first expected. Star has found a safe place to “rest” between truck hauls and most of that safe feeling comes from the presence of Cade the bartender. That more will occur is a given and a HEA eagerly hoped for as I read about each of these main characters that so deserved to be together. What I liked: *Sterling “Star Parson: strong, resilient, intelligent, on a mission, a defender, and driven to make things “right” – she has a lot of heart and strong feelings for Cade…eventually * Cade McKenzie: more than just a bartender, ex-elite-military, working for a cause, a protector, strong family ties, and is taken with Star. Loved his relationship with his siblings * The relationship that develops between Cade and Star was equal, delightful, loving, generous and a whole lot of fun to watch unfold * The McKenzies and the dynamics between siblings and their father * Bernard: a man that is more than a butler and chef…would love to know more about him * Learning the backstory of the Cade and Star and the motivation of the McKenzies to take up the task they have set for themselves * That everyone is “strong” in their own right * The hook to the next romance that could be between Reyes McKenzie and a woman that is a member of his gym * That the bad guys are easy to hate and that they met their just desserts * All of it really…except… What I didn’t like: * The fact that the crime everyone was working against is real and ever present and really does need to be eradicated. * The bad guys…they are the scum of the earth and it was easy to hate them and what they do for a living * Having to wait for the next book in the series. Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely! Thank you to NetGalley and HQN for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

  • Love this book

I loved this book. These are my type of hero/heroines. They both are strong, resilient and fiercely protective. Cade would be the perfect man for me in real life, as he is alpha but is not overbearing and a jerk about it. I love how Sterling gives as good as she gets to everyone. Both have fears and things that run deep especially Sterling but they are also strong. Both Sterling and Cade get each other exactly how couples should. Cade also seems to have special way of knowing exactly what Sterling needs and when to back off. I so can't wait to read more about the McKenzie family. I think this might be my favorite book so far by Lori Foster but she always seems to top them with her next book. *I received this free book from NetGalley/author and am leaving my honest opinion*

  • A good read

I found the premise interesting but the language was much coarse than previous works by this author. I was a little surprised by that, but a good read nonetheless.

  • Gritty, realistic romantic suspense story!

This is the first book by this author that I've read, and I am already combing through her back catalog for more thrilling books like this one. Star and Cade are fire together, with chemistry for days and an innate sense of the other that makes them perfect partners as they work together to take down a human-trafficking ring. But it took a long time - a very long time - for them to get past their guarded natures in order to trust each other, and I was simply blown away by the intimacy of their interactions, even well before they ended up in bed together. Both the romance and the crime story had me on the edge of my seat throughout and I loved every bit of it. Cade and Star have a wonderful HEA, but the series continues with Cade's family and their foundation. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
