Sslow-burn romance with lots of witty banter!

Overall Rating: 4 stars Do I recommend it?: Yes Genre: New Adult POV: Dual Writing: 4 stars. I generally enjoy P. Dangelico’s writing style, this was one of her better efforts. Story/Plot: 4 stars. This was a slow-burn, almost enemy-to-lovers, sports romance. Characters: 3.5 stars. I really liked Alice’s character, she was fiesty and independent. Reagan wasn’t quite as strong a male lead as I generally prefer, but he was definitely likeable. Emotions: 3 stars. Honestly, I could have done without the brother/family drama. This could have easily stood alone as a romance. Having said that, I really enjoyed watching the romance and characters progress. Flow/pacing: 4 stars. A really nice slow-burn romance with lots of witty banter, which I love. Steam: 4 stars. Again, the slow-burn was well done. Not a lot of sexy times, but appropriate for their relationship growth. HEA: Yes. Will I read this author again?: Definitely. I’m really looking to the rest of this series!

    ***4.5 Stars***

***4.5 Stars*** Talk about slow burn goodness! This one pulled out all the stops and then some. I laughed, I growled, I swooned and I really want to spend more time with this cast of diverse and unique characters and find out what makes them all tick! I loved and adored Reagan and Alice. Reagan is all kinds of sweet, golden hearted goodness. It may not appear that way, I mean the man is something of a golden god *smirks*, but he has a good and honorable soul that comes through in his actions time and time again. Alice is a fighter. She has a goal, a dream that she’s always wanted, and works hard every day to achieve that goal. She definitely has a stubborn streak, but she isn’t about to cut off her nose to spite herself. She’s sassy, sweet and is very true to herself and her heart. To say I enjoyed their slow burn romance is an understatement, I loved it! From their first collision (which is quite literal) to watching as they slowly became friends and struggled to keep their attraction to each other solely in the friend zone, it was all kinds of goodness. Their bantering was a lot of fun and the chemistry between them was hot. Now, not everything goes smoothly, but even I didn’t see that one coming. It was heartbreaking, though understandable, and while I would have liked a tinsy more grovelling (Ya’ll know how much I love grovelling) I can’t deny that I loved how everything worked out for them in the end). This wasn’t only a great read, but also a great first in series. I loved how we got introduced to all the characters and the little teases of what MAY be coming in future books. Zoe, Blake, Dora, Brock, Dallas, Cole and Quinn were a lot of fun, though Dora is my fav ATM, and I am totally looking forward to getting to know them all better! ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

    cute

Sweet new adult romance novel. Dangelico is new to me but has written numerous books with various levels of spice. This one is probably one-chilli spicy, with sex, but not tons. So, there are a few elements that gave me pause, like the use of the phrase "bad neighborhood." I really liked how the characters were there own heros, and how it was fairly sex positive. The author did a good job of differentiating the voices as she toggled between the first person of the two MCs. But, overall, I thought this was a solid New adult romance. Note: Drug addiction and poor parenting are part of the story if those are triggers, be aware. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

    Sexy Water Polo Player

    P. Dangelico scores again! I loved every minute of this slow burn, witty story filled with lots of snappy dialogue. From the first page, I was transported into the world of Reagan and Alice, who meet in college when Reagan almost runs Alice over. Reagan and Alice are total opposites. Reagan is a rich, entitled, popular water polo player. Alice is a sarcastic, smart mouthed New Jersey native thrown into the rich, glamorous world of Malibu. She doesn’t recognize Reagan and has never heard of water polo. Reagan is a good guy and feels bad for injuring Alice when he nearly hits her with his car. He comes from money and parents with a lot of expectations. He wants to help Alice but she continually refuses his help and that drives Reagan crazy. He is not used to being ignored. Alice grew up with a lot of love but little money. She is snarky, fun, honest, down to earth and Reagan is drawn to her. This college sports romance is a great start to a new series by P. Dangelico. I fell in love with Reagan and was also highly entertained by his water polo teammates. I love all the entertaining interactions between Reagan and his friends. I was laughing out loud at all their bantering. Alice girlfriends are fun and snarky, too. My only problem with the story was its abrupt ending. I was so invested in these characters I needed more.

    Just Wonderful

A wonderful, quick, light, easy and addictive read. I love sports romance, and I thought I’d pretty much read across all sports, but water polo is new to me. I’ve googled the heck out of it and yes water polo players have fantastic bodies, hot, hot, hot. So yes we’ve got a hot as hell main character Reagan Reynolds, the thing is, Reagan is also a great person, and when he nearly knocks down Alice Bailey in his car, Alice ends up with an ankle injury, and Reagan does everything in his power to help her. Alice however is unwilling to accept his assistance, she’s very independent and stubborn, this however only makes Reagan more determined. Herein starts an unlikely friendship, both feeling the attraction, but unwilling to act on it. Wonderful writing, characters (and friendship groups), and an all round great story that had me shedding a tear at one point. I am so looking forward to more in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
