    ***4 ‘Hopeful Possibility’ Stars***

***4 ‘Hopeful Possibility’ Stars*** What a ride this book was! There is so much going on it kinda made my head spin. There is obviously the romance between Ashland and Fanny, then there are the issues Ash and Fanny have going on outside of that (though to be honest they do merge, but still) and then there are the various relationships Ash has with the people in his life and how they all converge and become involved in the crazy that Ash and Fanny are involved in. In a lot of ways it was exhausting emotionally, and even mentally trying to keep up, and yet the feels were potent and I kept turning the pages to find out what would happen next. I really liked Fanny and while she could be impetuous, she still had a plan. That plan may have been simply getting from point A to point B and not really thinking beyond that, but her heart was always in the right place. Strong, resilient and once she called you hers, she was all in. Ashland. This man is complex. On one hand he will go to the ends of the Earth for those he claims as his. On the other, he keeps a large portion of himself locked away from those same people. He craves control and has a way of gaining it without you being aware of it ~ at least if you aren’t paying attention. I liked him a lot, but the need to Gibbs smack him while giving him a big a hug was strong. The funny thing about Fanny and Ash’s journey to their HEA was that while there was a lot of push/pull going on between them, for many reasons, the angsty-ness never reached OTT level for me. It was there, and I had a few growly moments with both of them, but overall I really enjoyed watching them become more because from their first meeting the connection, the pull between them was real and they ended up being exactly what the other never knew they wanted, or needed. Confession time ~ this is only the second book by the author I’ve read and the first book was RFC, so I went into this one blind. I did have the opportunity to at least read the first two in the series, which I was very grateful for, but at the time there just wasn’t any time. Do I feel as I should have read them? Yes and no. The ties the bind Ash to his friends are complex and there were some undercurrents that I’d have understood better if I had read the first two. But I have to admit that I liked going in blind and meeting Ash for the first time (sort of) and learning about him in the here and now. But, I loved the Dirt Dogs and their women and will do my best to meet them properly by reading the first two books *crossing toes it happens before the next decade* I really enjoyed Oceanside. There is a lot going on and the author does tackle some heavy issues, which I found quite refreshing, and thought she did it with respect and compassion. So, if you love rock star romances with well written characters then this is a must read for you! ~ Copy provided by the author & voluntarily reviewed ~

Great story of hope and love!

I was given an ARC of this book and asked to review it. I have never read this author before, or the previous books in this series, but overall I liked it. Fanny Bay Lesowski is in her early 20's. Fanny has scored a number one hit with her song from a movie and is now even nominated for an Oscar, where she will perform her hit song. While rehearsing, Fanny sees Ashland Keys, drummer of the Dirt Dogs and the guy who has been more than a crush to her for the past few years. After losing her mom, the Dirt Dogs music got her through some very rough times. Knowing her sister Hollie would be disappointed if she didn't at least talk to Ashland, Fanny gets up the courage to go and say hi. Instantly there is chemistry. After a cute and awkward chat, and a bad run-in with Fanny's stepfather, they decide to meet up at a coffee shop in two weeks. Two weeks later, Ash is a no-show and is not replying to Fanny's text. She's confused but figures the guy's just a typical jerk, not realizing what really happened. Flash forward two years and Fanny's life has done a 180. Her and Hollie are on the run from their stepfather and end up in Ocean Beach, where Ash just happens to live. After some crazy things, Ash ends up rescuing her and Hollie even though he does not know who she really is. Slowly, together these two start let their defenses down and only then can they finally start to heal. It ends up taking a huge leap of faith, but they eventually get to their happy ending. Overall I really enjoyed this story. I have a feeling that if I had read the first two books in the series, a lot more of the story would have made sense....especially with all of Ash's friends. Some of the time it seemed like all of a sudden I missed something, but in the end, I really enjoyed the characters and the story and am looking forward to Hollie's story which is next.

    Unique and heartfelt!

**I received an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review** I am a newbie to Michelle Mankin books, but I'm so glad that I have discovered her! While Oceanside is the third book in the Rock Stars, Surf and Second Chances series, it can be read as a standalone. I am definitely going to have to go back and read the others in this series and other books/series by the author. This book was so different from any that I have read and I mean that in the best way possible. I read a lot, I mean a lot, and I can honestly say that I have never encountered a book with this storyline. It was unique and heartfelt and a breath of fresh air. It kept me engaged and I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen with these people. Both Ashland Keys and Fanny Bay are fighting their own demons and are extremely strong characters. They are dynamic and accomplished in their own right and while things haven't been easy for them as individuals, they continue to push forward. The two met briefly a few years before and there was a definite attraction. However circumstances kept them apart and it isn't until a few years later that they find one another again. They both have walls so high that need to come down and they may be the only ones who can accomplish it for the other. So much happens in this book, both good and bad, but in the end for me this is a book about hope. No matter the situation you find yourself in, there is always something, or someone, that is going to be the light at the end of your tunnel. I don't want to say much more because I want the story to unfold for you like it did for me. This is definitely a book to take a chance on, especially if you enjoy unique and beautiful stories. Kudos to Michelle Mankin for an outstanding story!

A rockstar and a surfer?? YES PLEASE!

Oceanside is a must read! It was so refreshing to read a second chance romance book with a different kind of story line. I really never have come across the surfer books that intrigued me. When I read the blurb, I knew I needed to dive right into this book! Ash did it for me! Fanny was super woman and never gave up. There were a few dramatic scenes that brought a tear here and there. What Fanny had to endure to make sure her sister stayed safe, blew me away. She is selfless. Ash broke my heart. Living in his own made purgatory had made me want to save him. To wrap him in my arms and tell him he can still live and be loved. He surprised me in many ways. There was a lot of skeletons he keeps in the closet. Once you learn them, its a bit of a shock but yet a revelation to what makes Ash be Ash. The drama factor in this story line kept the angst at a high level alert. The sexiness between the characters bring up the heat factor in the story. And boy is there so much heat!!!! I was loved each page and every moment that Oceanside brings. Talk about loving me some Rock Stars who love to stay in the Ocean!!!

    Best Beach Read!

Oceanside by Michelle Mankin will take you to Ocean Beach California where you will experience heart stopping emotions, lots of drama, suspense, secrets, and steamy love scenes. The writing in this book is so good and so detailed that it plays out like a real movie and yet reads like a poem because it has the most beautiful symbolism. Meet Ashland Keys-Ash, he will unveil himself layer by layer-he is like an onion. Ash is super protective and hiding away from his problems. Meet Fanny she is super cute, sweet- she will steal your heart, and she is running from  problems of her own. When these two unite there is such a connection, they are so similar in so many ways. The characters are so real and relatable. This is a beautiful story of what happens when you open your heart-- you find true loyalty, friendship and love. 5-stars!! 🏄‍♂️ ♪🎤❥•´*  🏄‍♂️ ♪🎤❥•´*
