    A good read, well-developed characters

This was a good read that kept me interested. I felt close to the characters, 3 women and their families and loves over a 40-year period. The story takes place in the 40's and 70's, decades to which I can relate and about which I enjoy reading. I also liked the unexpected twists in the plot.

    Of Marriageable Age

Complex relationships set within the horror of life as Indian women. It is hard to believe that so little has changed for women in India today. Even more distressing is that Indians carefully hide their contempt for women as they carry it out into the rest of the world. The life of a girl in India is still of little value today.

    Great storyline, interesting and entertaining

I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. The characters were well developed and the storylines were very interesting. I became engrossed in the lives of the characters and actually felt sad when i passed the halfway mark in the book because I was enjoying the story so much that I didn't want it to end. My main concern and the reason it only rated four stars is that I feel that the authour tied up the ending a little too neatly.

    Page turner

I really enjoyed this book. The plot kept me wondering what would happen next. I'm a Caribbean girl so the description of the scenery came alive for me. How it unfolded in the end was so unexpected. Loved it.

    Must read

This book was so well written and the story so well thought out that I am unable to get into and enjoy the book that I have selected to read after this. Well done Sharon Maas.
