  • Perfect Compilation of Second-Chance Holidays.

⭐ ⭐ Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review ⭐ ⭐ Judging a Book by it's Cover: Bare-chested man holding a stack of holiday presents. Festive red and green font. Looking Deeper: CHRISTMAS BONUS - Eric's has a thing for Maggie, but their age difference kept him away... that and she was the boss's daughter. With her father's sudden death, Maggie is his new boss and all hope of ever approaching her outside of a work relationship seems lost... that is, until she approaches him. ~ score: 4.1 NAUGHTY UNDER THE MISTLETOE - Toni's perparing for a fresh start in the new year and plans to take out the old with a long-fantasized bang. Her colleague, Stephan, has been off-limits until now. At the Christmas party, she seeks to take advantage, only to realise her case of mistaken identity after a scorching kiss. Who knew Stephan had a twin and that that twin, Max, was way hotter than even her original fantasies? ~ score: 4.0 SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL - Zach is a medically discharged Marine. Maya is part owner of Cupcakes and Dreamscapes. They'd grown up together as best friends, then grown apart over the years while he was enlisted and she moved from Vermont to Florida. A night of nostalgia leads her best friend, Giselle, to become instantly infatuated with Zach -- and some sexy, creative writing (if not a bit misleading) leads Zach to her... but which her? Has the vibe of "A Christmas Carol". ~ score: 4.2 HAVE YOURSELF A CURVY LITTLE CHRISTMAS - The longest of the holiday novellas. Dina arrives at the childhood home of her infant son's father to request support for him so he may have a better start in life that what she can provide on her own. But things don't exactly turn out as she expects. She accepts a proposal to stay through Christmas. There are two people who're left wanting, needing precisely what the other can provide. Personally my favorite of this anthology. ~ score: 4.5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rating: 3.75 [R] ~ Score: 4.2 ~ Stars: 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Worthwhile anthology

This was a nice enough read. I have had a review copy of this book for a couple of years but somehow missed reading it and it ended up buried on my Kindle. I decided to dust off as I was trying to get into the holiday spirit this year. I don't know that it had any impact on my readiness for the holiday but I did find the book to be an okay read. I enjoyed all four of the stories pretty equally with nothing really standing out. Christmas Bonus by Lori Foster I am not always a fan of office romances but I thought this one worked. The couple in the story have known each other for a long time. They really did seem to work well together and I liked the chemistry between them. Naughty Under the Mistletoe by Carly Philips This one starts off at an office holiday party. Intending to finally make a move on her boss, the main character ends up kissing his twin instead. The couple has a lot of chemistry. I liked the twist on the office romance since she worked for his family but not him directly. Have Yourself a Curvy Little Christmas by Sugar Jamison This was another story featuring brothers. Dina decides to reach out to her baby's father but finds his older brother instead. This was a fun opposites attract kind of story and I liked how the baby, Dash, played an important role in it. Some Kind of Wonderful by Beth Ciotta This was a fun friends to lovers story. The couple has known each other for years but they haven't seen each other lately. They find themselves stranded in a cabin and realize that they both might feel more for each other than they realized. I thought that this was a worthwhile anthology. I would give each of the individual stories 3 stars and really liked how different they were. I had fun sampling the writing of a few new to me authors and would definitely try their work again in the future. I received an advance reader copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley.
