    Is beauty only skin deep?

Tim Hollander and Erin Collier meet at a burger joint. He is outside signing autographs. She is coming to get lunch for herself and some colleagues who work with her at the hospital. She has a crush on a doctor who loves hockey - and NHL star Tim is more than happy to help. Unfortunately, Tim is sort of being extorted for his autograph in front of her and she takes exception to the lies and threats. She defends him automatically. He defends her right back. When she is pushed and falls down, he takes the fake fan down with his fist. There is a media storm following this and they are forced to spend more time together. When the doctor finally notices her, possibly since she is kind of dating one of his favorite players, she is not sure how to react. Does he only notice her after Tim does? Tim, is completely over the moon for Erin. He has not felt like this for anyone he has ever dated. They are both gun shy due to their pasts. There is much for them to learn about one another. Erin has hang ups about her looks that are not helping either. Good book! I was surprised to see what a great start to the In the Zone series this was! I have pulled it off my TBR pile only to find that it was so good I needed to tell others about it.

    A first from thisauthor

The main characters were very nicely developed, but the secondaries could have been a bit more there. The story line was long but really good, emotional, great love scenes, happy ending.

    Sport Romance at it's best

Hotness Rating 3 out of 5 I bought On the Surface, book 1 of the In the Zone series, after reading the novella On the Brink (a book I was given an Advanced copy to read). Honestly, I loved the novella and was a little concerned that this series could never be as good. I was so wrong! On the Surface was everything I look for in a sports romance and so much more. Tim Hollander made me swoon, he made me laugh and he made me tear up. Newly traded Tim is trying real hard to overcome his media image as a hot head. Even though, in my opinion, that fan deserved so much more than a bottle being thrown at him. So, what does he do at his first public appearance as a San Diego Barracuda? He gets in a fight with a "fan". Again, it was totally deserved. After all, he assaulted a woman that was standing in line waiting for an autograph. Erin Collier was a great female protagonist. She was independent and strong without being abrasive. Even when she got pushed around by the guy, trying to swindle autographs just to sell them, she stood up for herself and Tim. I loved how she and Tim interacted with each other. He was thoughtful and aware of Erin's feelings and needs, without losing his tough and sexy image. I thought it was funny how even though Erin was attracted to Tim she still tried to convince herself that the Dr. O was the guy for her. Definitely a great read! I can not wait to read more of these uber sexy hockey players and the women that are lucky enough to be the object of their love.

    Great Read

This is my first read by this author & it won't be the last. Tim is a hockey player starting over with a new team. Erin is a pediatric nurse who works with very sick kids. They meet at a burger joint he's at a team signing event when he defends her against an angry fan. Erin thinks getting an autograph for the Dr. she has a crush on will get him to see her in a new light. What she doesn't expect is to have Tim defend her & then to fall for him. Tim falls for her on sight & does everything to get her to go out with him. Love the ups & downs that this couple went through in this story. Will this relationship work? Looking forward to the next book.
