The first thought that kept running through my mind was the Elf and the Shoemaker, but modernized. Taking over his father's shoe store, the reluctant Randal had one small issue. There was no way he could get rid of his father's prized employee, the only one for the store. Casey was too much for the recently divorced Randal. Too perfect at his job, too cheerful, too persistent: an obnoxiously happy and morning person. When the store is vandalized, Casey used this opportunity to not only weasel a date out of Randal, but to get his ideas implemented and modernize the store. Little did Randal know that Casey, his heel loving employee had magic up his sleeve, quite literally. The two form an alliance of sorts and when Casey wins, all bets are off. This short story contains a lovable, expressive, heel wearing elf, who is not afraid of using his wiles, and a store owner who barely hesitates when he discovers the paranormal. A lovely ending to a good night. ARC provided by Pride Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Cee from Alpha Book Club
