    Give into temptation

Lady Penelope is willing to anything to get out of marrying the horrible man her parents chose for her. Even fake a kidnapping. In the process of this, she meets Hugh the local clergyman and he agrees to help her hide for the night and then take her home the next morning, helping ruin her in the eyes of society and making her unmarriageable. I loved Penelope from chapter one. Penelope is so strong and brave to do whatever she has to get out of a marriage with a man she hates. I love how kind and witty Penelope is. Hugh was such an amazing hero. His compassionate nature and desire to help everyone made me fall in love with him. Penelope and Hugh have such great chemistry. My favorite parts are what happened in the hotel room when he was hiding her and the first kiss scene. I was excited to finally see a clergyman as a hero in a regency romance novel that isn’t religious. I have always wanted more clergyman heroes in my regency books because it was a common profession of the time and it seems like it is such a neglected romance novel idea. I loved this book and if you love regency romance I highly recommend it. Rating: 5 stars Content Rating: Adult *Thanks to Darcy Burke and Netgalley for a copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own.*

This story surprised me in the very best of ways

This story surprised me in the very best of ways. When it started off, I had no idea how it was going to get us where it looked like we were going. First off, we have our clergyman hero. All Thorn Birds references aside, I was a little concerned by the possibility of intimate encounters with a man of the cloth. The author handles the situation with a deft skill I can only admire. But this paled in comparison to the obstacles of our heroine’s parents, the fiancé her father wants her to marry, and the very large difference in the social stations between Penelope and Hugh. This was all handled with some delightfully clever plotting that brought all the previous books’ heroes and heroines back to play. What we get from this is the adorably sweet, yet still a little spicy, story of Penelope and Hugh overcoming the odds. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and I find I’m reluctant to say “goodbye” to these characters. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author through NetGalley.

All it takes is one night to fall in love!

Hugh rescues Penelope from a very real kidnapping, only to find out that she has very good reasons to want to be presumed missing for the night. Ever the gentleman, he tries to help her with her end goal, even if it means he’ll never see her again. Their relationship gets right to the heart of what makes a good partnership and marriage, and I loved every quick-witted step as they stay ahead of the Bow Street runners and out of the reach of the common dangers in the area. I love the solution they found, and how Hugh was able to arrange it all. The last scene with her father was priceless. As the last book in the Wicked Dukes series, we have a terrific epilogue that wraps up everyone’s HEA nicely. If you love Regency romances, you don’t want to miss these books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

    Historical Romance

One Night of Temptation by Darcy Burke Wicked Dukes Club #6 Throughout the series we have had glimpses of Rector Hugh Tarleton. Each time he appeared I felt more and more intrigued by him and wanted to know more. He sounded like a man dedicated to the people in his flock located in a less than desirable neighborhood. So, when he appeared to save Lady Penelope Wakefield from an attempted kidnapping gone awry I was more than curious to see how it would work out. Penelope’s father saw her as a pawn to use to further his own interests and though she knew this was her lot in life was not willing to marry the man her father chose for her (with good reason). She came up with an alternative she thought would save her and thus ended up in the care of Hugh for a night. With scandal averted (not what Penelope was hoping for), the wedding back on and her interest in Hugh and his in her...a few friends from the Wicked Dukes Club and their wives were called in to assist the couple find their HEA. I loved Penelope and Hugh. Their relationship was one I could believe in. They stayed true to their beliefs and one another as they moved forward toward a love everlasting. Great ending to a marvelous series! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

    Great end to the series

I’ll be honest and say that this book surprised me; I didn’t know that a rector could have such strong feelings. Even though this is a short read you could feel the connection between Penelope and Hugh from the bet go. They have much in common with wanting to help those less fortunate. I loved how much he wanted to protect her even if she would choose a life without him. It was so fun to read how he involved all the previous couples to help him secure his future with her. Final book in the series and it was a perfect conclusion to it. If you’re looking for a fun, short and steamy in all the right places read for the summer this series is for you. ***Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads Blog***
