This book was a cute read. It wasn’t anything extraordinary by any means. It was just a nice, cute, snuggly Young Adult Romance. The author tried to create depth in the characters and she did, but it didn’t really do it for me. Both Everly and Gabe have their issues that they have to deal with and attempt to overcome throughout the novel. All while falling for each other. They help each other through the rough patches. All of this adds to the storyline, but I just didn’t really fall too hard into the drama. Yes, I felt sorry for them and everything, but I just didn’t sympathize with them as much as I normally do with characters. Something was just off that caused me to not fully feel for these two. The romance was pretty good. I wasn’t so into their relationship that I was dying for them to be together, but I was able to hop on board to their love story and appreciate it. I’m not sure what was with these grand proposals to prom dates (promposals as they are called in the book). The asker (seemed to always be a boy) did a whole big thing in front of the entire school for the recipient. This never happened at my school. Does this actually happen in real life? Seems so crazy to me.
