    Thanks for your feedback!

    It was OK.

This review is a hard one for me to write. A lot of people consider 3-star reviews good but I know that most authors don't; I don't write many 3-star reviews. Out of the Ocean is the first book I've read by Lynn Michaels and it was OK but it didn't work well for me. The story line was good and the interaction between the characters was OK. It was the writing the bothered me a bit or perhaps it was the editing? The words just didn't flow for me; it seemed choppy. Scott's father also puzzled me. One minute he's adamantly against Scott's relationship with Cal and then rather quickly (or so it seemed to me) he's helping them. I also found it strange when Scott's parents called him Scotty. That seemed way out of character considering his given name is Prescott and that's what they usually called him. Given my comments above you might wonder why I've given this book even 3-stars? Keep reading for my positive comments. I do have some positive things to say. I liked both of the MCs (main characters) and I thought that the storm, and all of the other things they went through, seemed very believable. It seemed to me that Ms. Michaels did a lot of research to get this part of the story right. I also love epilogues and this story had a good one. I liked seeing how Scott and Cal fared after recovering from their time on the ocean in a life boat. I'm not sorry I read this book and I don't consider that I wasted my time; it's a relatively short novella. I'd be willing to read more by this author. Reviews of her work seem to indicate that Out of the Ocean isn't typical of her writing so perhaps things just didn't go as well for her with this story. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***

    a good solid 3 stars

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, was gifted my copy of this book. Cal and Scott come together, when their boats are destroyed in the storm. They are fighting for their lives, out at sea, and the inevitable happens, they get close just as they get rescued and split up. With Scott in Germany and Cal in the States, will they fight for what they want, for WHO they want?? I liked this book, I really did, I just didn't love it. It's very well written from both Cal and Scott's point of view, and I saw no editing or spelling errors. I just, I dunno, couldn't love it! I did find Scott a little ....insipid....a bit of a spolit brat.... when standing up to his dad! He DOES stand up to him, but only at the risk of losing Cal, when it should have been way before then for a mid 30's guy! I just....oh! Don't you just HATE not being able to word what you want!! It's not overly explicit, but it does get a little yukkie while they are floating in the life raft, but eating raw fish, eyes and guts and all weren't never gonna be a picnic in the park, now was it?? Bit gross! A nice book, just one that didn't blow me away. Only short, some 100 pages, an hour reading time for. 3 stars
