    Thanks for your feedback!

    Parthian fan

Mr. Darman writes a good story, mixing history and fiction, with perhaps a bit more fiction than other writers of historical fiction employ. That being said the story is gripping and the action and battle scenes are vivid. The writing is better than the first two novels. My only wish is that he would use a bit more of real history. Surena, for example , who was a real historic figure and the scion of the powerful Surena clan of Parthian Iran is recast as a boy from the marshes of southern Mesopotamia who rises through the ranks of Pacorus army. Parthian Iran was ruled by the cooperation of half a dozen powerful clans from whose ranks the kings and king of kings and even the ruling family of Armenia derived. Regarding religion, while the warriors definitely tended to worship Mithra, associated with the sun, many in Iran were also Zoroastrian, following the first monotheistic prophet (see Paul kriwacek). Again, much credit is given to Roman battle tactics un Pacorus' success while in reality Parthian light and heavy cavalry managed to handily best the Roman legions under both Crassus and Mark Antony. See my prior reviews of the earlier 2 books. All in all I do look forward to the 4 th installment.

Good storytelling and storyline. Descriptive battles. I thoroughly enjoyed it (as well as the other books in the series).

    Knew there was a fourth!

If you liked the first 2, then the third won't disappoint. Same style, same characters. Looking forward to rounding out the story with book 4.
