  • Fate versus curse, love trumps all

Andrei has been wandering for many years, trying to stay ahead of the hunters. He cannot go home nor stay in one place. He finds Sonia. Danger follows them as they find their way into each other's heart. Ultimate sacrifices are made, and bonds are strengthened as Sonia realizes what it means to give her all. Sonia was a strong woman, willing to give everything for the man she has a special bond with. Andrei had me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I found it interesting that Andrei had more than one form. I recommend this story. I received a copy of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

  • Enchanting

I really enjoyed this story. I found Andrei to be an honorable vampire, spending so many years trying to find a way to break his curse. Andrei's situation leaves the reader feeling his heartbreak. The additional cast of characters really rounded out the story. I loved Nana and Korinna's additons to the tale. Once I started reading, it was hard to walk away. Fans of classic vampire tales will appreciate the blend of the old-style tale mixed with twists added to the story to make it unique. I reviewed a copy provided by the author; the opinions are my own.

  • An enchanting debut!

Passion Awakened was an enchanting debut in the Beyond The Mist series by Valerie Twombly. A King cursed and unable to return home. A woman who doesn’t believe in her gypsy heritage. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. The story is quick and the mating is insta. Andrei and Sonia were a great couple. The curse he is under is to fold and what must be done to break the curse is, heartbreaking and hopeful. I enjoyed the few surprise that we are treated to throughout the story. The secondary characters where a delight. I liked Karenina. She is the witch that helps bring Andrei and Sonia together. Her story is a bit sad and who knows maybe she will find her special someone. We are also introduced to a few other men from the mist and get to see this other world. I will say a few things felt repetitive. For one we have he witch telling Andrei a story, Andrei in turn tells Roman his friend the story, then the witch tells Sonia the same story who shares it with her grandmother. You get the picture. Even though we get a little repetitive I still enjoyed jumping into the Beyond The Mist series. Passion Awakened treats us to a curse, heartbreak, and hope. If you enjoy Vampires and stories that take you on an emotional journey then this book is possibility for you. I had a wonderful time and look forward to the next installment. Rated: 3.5 Stars *Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy provided by Author Valerie Twombly with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.

  • Highly recommend

I always find Valerie's series captivating and read them as fast as I get them. The "Beyond the Mist" series is no exception and one I recommend. With lots of twists and turns and different links to their mates. Valerie has a real talent for articulating her characters feelings, so when they cry, I cry, when they laugh, I laugh. I get a sense of feeling into their very soul, making her stories an emotional rollercoaster and an escape like no other. And the romance, "YES PLEASE". Strong women can have their cake and eat it too. Looking forward to the next book!!
