    Picture Perfect Summer

Oh, I love this series! This one is about Duke and True and takes place in two parts. The first part Duke is at loose ends, his life is falling apart and he is divorcing his wife and trying to keep his company intact, a company he never wanted to be the CEO of. It is while surfing he meets True and his life changes. She is the one, the ONE for him. True has graduated from college and trying to decide whether to start her teaching career in Arizona or in North Carolina where her parents are. After meeting Duke and spending time with him, it seems her future is destined to be in North Carolina, that is until Duke's wife drops a bombshell. Fast forward ten years and Duke is miserable, he is a single father of a ten-year-old daughter and just floating through life. We have been watching him in the previous two books and he has been the "grumpy" older brother and now we know why. True sneaks back into town to hopefully close her parents home and sneak back out but Duke has other plans. He has never forgotten her and wants her back. True is happy in Arizona but could she also be happy in North Carolina? Are the sparks still there? Oh, these two definitely still have chemistry and this was a great read. I definitely recommend this one! **Received this ARC for review**

    A beautiful story

I absolutely loved Picture Perfect Summer! It is the third book in Marquita Valentine's Kings of Castle Beach series. Marquita captured my heart and did not let go. I love the world she has created in this series. I laughed, cried, felt giddy and wanted to throat punch some characters for their actions. (Not many, but gahhh you will understand if you read it... and only for brief moments.) I love how Duke and True's story started years ago and that love truly conquers all. I loved their combustible chemistry, their stubbornness and their ability to love completely. I have to admit I loved Duke and Laird's relationship. But this story also gave us a great preview to Laird and Ophelia's story, which I hope is released very very soon. I can't wait to read more from the Kings of Castle Beach! Well Done Marquita!

    4.5 PERFECTLY SWOONY STARS!

PICTURE PERFECT SUMMER was just what the doctor ordered to help chase away my winter doldrums! This sweet and swoony second chance romance marks my first ever book by Marquita Valentine and it exceeded all my expectations! MY MUSINGS: I was swept off my feet by this third standalone book in the Kings of Castle Beach series! At its core, this is a wondrous story of two star-crossed summer lovers who were torn apart by fate but get a rare and precious second chance at a new beginning. Yet before that can happen, they must reconcile the past and muster the courage to risk it all to forge a beautiful tomorrow!! Marquita Valentine’s warm, breezy writing style was like a breath of fresh air! I was enchanted by her vibrant prose, her charming, emotional tone, her engaging, fleshed out characters, and her stellar story craftsmanship! And she sure knows how to concoct an endearing couple that hits you hard in the feels and melts your heart from page one. Duke King and True Prince have SPARKLING CHEMISTRY, and I thought Ms. Valentine did a marvelous job of showcasing the sweet and sexy buildup, the catastrophic breakdown, and then the LONG-AWAITED reunion! As for the execution of the plotline, I thought it was a BRILLIANT decision on the author’s part to construct the love story into two parts (PAST AND PRESENT) so I got to fully invest in the romance from the very beginning! I savored each breath-stealing beat of Duke and True’s summer courtship in part one, which enabled me to not only fall head over heels right along with this adorable duo as they basked in the sun-dappled splendor of true love, but also had me suffering through the crushing headache when things went horribly awry. Which meant that by the time we get to part two, when the book jumps ahead 10 years, I was already 100 percent emotionally invested in the outcome! And I ESPECIALLY love how in the second half we get to see an older but even more desirable Duke portrayed as not only a man on a mission to reclaim the girl who got away, but also as a fiercely devoted and utterly swoon worthy single dad to his beloved daughter, River. Gah…as far as book boyfriends go, Duke is a TOTAL DREAMBOAT! Although he's far from perfect, this strong, stoic, SINFULLY SEXY man has a heart of pure gold and is so loyal and noble and self-sacrificing he gave me butterflies! Duke has faced unspeakable tragedies over the years and has done the responsible thing at the expense of his own happiness. But when he gets a second shot at love, you gotta admire a man who owns up to his shortcomings and GOES AFTER HIS GIRL WITH A GUSTO! As for the heroine, I loved True too. I adored her sweet, quirky, outgoing personality, her zest for life, and her kind, compassionate nature. And while she did frustrate me at times with her skittish attitude and wishy-washy indecisiveness about the future--and I did not think she needed to make Duke work QUITE SO HARD to win her back--her true devotion toward Duke and little River was NEVER in question Ultimately, through the course of this story, this couple’s enduring love is tested over and over again, but when all is said and done, the payoff is SWEET INDEED! Every winsome small-town romance also needs a MEMORABLE cast of supporting characters and the King and Prince clans were fanfreakingtastic. There are multiple overlapping storylines that run throughout this series, and I was particularly moved by Laird and Ophelia’s tragically beautiful love story. The soul-deep connection between these childhood sweethearts just SLAYED MY HEART! And last but certainly not least, Duke’s adorably precocious daughter was cute as a button and so clever and charming that it’s no wonder that “baby duck” had her daddy wrapped around her little finger. I treasured River’s interactions with both Duke and True—and together this threesome made the perfect family! BOTTOM LINE: PICTURE PERFECT SUMMER was a like a little slice of paradise and there is a jaw-dropping twist at the end that made me DESPERATE to read PICTURE PERFECT LOVE! Highly Recommend!

    Second Chance at Love

OH MY!! Words fail to describe how much I loved Duke and True’s second chance story in Picture Perfect Summer by Marquita Valentine, book three in her The Kings of Castle Beach series. There are two parts to this story, ten years apart, both during the summer. True met Duke because of a dare, but once she started seeing him she was a goner. He was only supposed to be a summer fling instead she fell in love with him. Duke felt the same love for True and did not want her to leave at the end of summer. However, when his pregnant wife, from who he was separated, enters the picture True cannot stand by and watch them together. Instead, she leaves Castle Beach, and Duke, for good. Fast forward ten years when True returns to prepare her parent’s house for sale and sever any remaining memories she might have of Duke and that summer. However, once Duke discovers she is in town, all bets are off. He has never forgotten True, his soul mate, his one true love and is determined to pull out all the stops to woo her and fight for her, making her fall in love with him again. This sexy, single dad will even use his ten-year old daughter to help convince True she belonged with them, as a family. True has never forgotten or stopped loving Duke, judging all other men against him as a standard. I loved how ten years time did not change the characters. Duke, being the eldest King, was overburdened with expectations and responsibilities for his family and the family business. True still struggled with saying no, especially to her parents and herself. Duke’s ex-wife, although married to another, still tried to assert herself between True and Duke. Memories of the time spent that first summer with Laird, who is missing at sea, and Ophelia, return making them stronger rather than weaker. Ms. Valentine wrote an amazing and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. It had me laughing, crying and everything in between. This story is filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

    Steamy 2nd chance HEA

The Kings of Castle Beach is a fantastic series. Picture Perfect Summer is book 3 and it tells Duke and True's story. Duke and True meet by lucky chance and fall into love. Theirs was a beautiful summer romance, with them deeply in love- perfect for one another but their beloved story doesn't last long and one shock after the other ends up tearing them apart. Sadly, they don't fight against the cruel circumstances or for one another. Fast forward 10 years on and True is back to sell her parents home and put that summer completely in her past, but one look at Duke on her doorstep and she knows there is no possible way it could be that easy. Duke wants True and wants a 2nd chance but is she ready to give it ? This is a beautifully written story that is about love, loss, 2nd chances, forgiveness, passion and true love. My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
