    ODD B00K IN THE SERIES

I am reading the whole series again and found Port Mortuary to be the least engaging because most of the narrative is Scarpetta's introspective ramBlings. The actual plot is thin and poorly developed. I wanted much more interaction between Kay and Lucy, Marino and Kay.

    Not bad

I'm a big fan of the Scarpetta novels but as of late they have been a little tough to get into. I was about half way through before this one peaked my interest.

    Port Mortuary

I hadn't read a Patricia Cornwell novel prior & now I've read this book I wonder why I hadn't . She's everything I like in an author - fast paced, a page turner & doesn't let me guess early on in the book who is responsible for the killings. I like the side-kick of Marino w/ all his opinions. Not too sure about the character of Lucy, she seems as if she's so intelligent that she might have some mental health issues not yet identified. Husband, Benton, certainly isn't your usual supportive, feeling character of a husband but perhaps if I read earlier books his role will be clarified.

    Port Mortuary

A very atypically emotional book. Still very good, but not the page turner I have come to expect. A welcome introduction to Kay Scarpettas inner most feelings. Bravo again.
