  • A must-read!

Reviewed by Ruffina Oserio for Readers' Favorite I love stories with strong conflict and unforgettable characters and Portal Traveler by Rebekah Olson is one such story. Adam Weiss is a German WWII interpreter who is tired of the killing. He is sent through a magic portal to a world that is similar to ours. His mission: Get supplies to fuel the war machine. Adam has learned to follow orders in his work, but he is very skeptical about the real motive of this mission. One thing is certain: should he fail to deliver the results, his family will be in grave danger back home. But accomplishing the mission can also lead to the invasion of this new world. He is in a huge dilemma. Will he choose to save his family and condemn a whole new world of innocent souls? Portal Traveler has strong historical hints, striking elements of fantasy, and an irresistible appeal to fans of science fiction. Portal Traveler is well-plotted and the author creates a protagonist who is deeply human in a world that is fast getting dehumanized by war. The strong conflict fuels the plot points and makes it an adventure worth following. Rebekah Olson writes in beautiful prose and paints wonderful imagery with the descriptions. The novel is fast-paced and filled with surprising moments. I particularly enjoyed the way the psychological conflict is handled and the streams of consciousness that plunge readers into the inner world of the protagonist. This novel is, indeed, a must-read.
