  • A locked room mystery!

cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, law-enforcement, family-dynamics, friendship Enter the world of appraisers of books, including priceless first editions. Addie Greyborne, owner of the Beyond the Page booksellers is a vetted appraiser of rare books but also cheerfully sells reading copies. By happenstance she becomes involved in a locked room murder with no apparent cause, is dogged as a suspect by a hostile FBI agent who is sloppy in her due diligence, and is forced to find valid evidence of her innocence and point to the real culprit. Absolutely amazing twist at the end! I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you

  • A delightful and entertaining read!

In this fourth installment in Lauren Elliott's Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series, Addie Greyborne is attending an auction preview at a mansion that is rumored to be haunted. When she arrives, she finds an old family friend in charge of the auction and offers to help his overwhelmed insurance appraiser with the inventory, some of which are extremely rare and valuable books. The next morning, the appraiser is found dead and the valuable books are missing. Marc is back in town and is investigating the theft, but he's not alone. He's bought along an FBI agent, who seems to be his new girlfriend. She immediately decides that Addie is the culprit and does everything she can to prove it. Someone seems to have gone to great lengths to frame Addie, and she is determined to clear her name and find the real culprit. I found this book to be a well-written, delightful, and thoroughly entertaining read. I didn't care much for Addie in Murder in the First Edition, however, I really fell in love with her character in this book. I thought she was witty, smart, headstrong, and I really admired her ability to think outside the box when searching for clues. The mystery was well-crafted, with plenty of suspects and red herrings to keep readers engaged until the last page. I really liked the haunted house theme, and the way the history of the house was woven into the present. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The plot was engaging, the characters interesting, and the setting charming. There are also two new characters that are sure to add intrigue to the story. I look forward to spending more time in Greyborne Harbor with Addie and the gang. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

  • This series NEVER disappoints

Addie Greyborne is searching for some new stock for her bookstore and runs into an old family friend who is running the local estate sale. Addie steps in to help with some last minute book appraisals and ends up being arrested for a murder she didn’t commit. Rubbing salt into the wound, her former paramour, the sheriff, has returned home from training and a trip to Italy with a new love interest. It turns out the woman is an FBI agent and is assisting in the case…and she has her sights set on taking Addie down. Now Addie has to find out the real murderer, whom she believes stole some very rare books as well, and clear her name. But with the house rumored to be haunted, Addie’s BFF Serena has no interest in going into the house and helping her friend. That leaves Addie and Simon to look into a slew of alternative suspects, including Addie’s cousin who disappeared the night of the murder. This is a fabulous series and I have enjoyed every single book so far. The writing is solid, the characters well developed and the whodunit is well thought out and leaves you with a slew of red herrings as you try to solve it. I cannot recommend this series enough and it will make a welcome addition to your reading list.

  • I Love This Cozy!

I loved this great mystery. I seriously couldn't put down the book until the story ended. I believed all along that I knew whodunnit, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong. I loved the creepiness of the setting. The romantic side plot was sweet. I can't wait to read the next one. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

  • FANTASTIC SERIES

I strongly recommend the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries by Lauren Elliott. I just finished Proof of Murder and it’s just as good as the first three. I really enjoy the characters and wish Addie’s store was real so I could go visit. It’s a real page turner because I just have to know what happens. I hate putting the book down. The story keeps you engaged from the first page to the very last. I can’t wait to read the next one.
