  • A great start!

This is Nicole's first paranormal book and it's very good. It's an interesting and original take on Angels and Demons. The world building is very good, I did get a little confused with all the new descriptive terms so I would recommend having a read through of the dictionary after the first couple of chapters as once I got my head around the terms I didn't struggle with remembering what meant what. The characters are well thought out and all very intriguing. The main couple the book centres on are very lovable and following the relationship develop kept me hooked throughout. I did find some of the intimate scenes a little repetitive, hence the 4 stars not 5. They did seem to favour a certain position and I liked it when they spiced it up abit. Overall it's a great start to the series and I'm hoping the next story hits the ground running. I don't really know which Angels story is next but I'm looking forward to whoever it is.

  • Do You Believe In Angels?

5 Star review of Protected in Darkness (Misplaced Halos #1) by Nicole Edwards Do you believe in Angels? I freely admit that paranormal stories are not one of my go to genres to read. However when I learnt that Nicole Edwards, an author I love, was writing paranormal series, I knew I had to read. I was intrigued as to how she would write this series and I was not disappointed.   I will be honest and admit I was a tad confused at first, but once I got my head around the terminology/names used I was well and truly drawn into the story that Ms.Edwards wove. Obsidian is an angel but is known as a Misplaced Halo. They are not allowed to become involved with humans unless it is their soulmate, known as their amsouelot. They are there to protect humans from Lucifer’s demons. When danger rears it’s head in Heaven, Obsidian must seek out his amsoulet, Penelope Calazans and protect her at all costs. Penelope is an empath who can feel others feelings. Although she does not get anything from Obsidian, it quickly becomes apparent that there is a strong bond between them. AS expected with a Nicole Edwards story, there was plenty of heat and some humour. There were parts of this book where I struggled a little with some of the grittier descriptive scenes but they are pivotal to the story being told.  If you are a fan of paranormal romance then this book will be right up your alley. Protected in Darkness is a well written love story about true soul mates that just happens to revolve around Angels and Demons.

  • It was okay

This was a change from what I have been reading lately. I started off enjoying the different characters but found it hard with some of the pronunciations. Then the further I read, I started to find that there seemed to be sex on every other page with no real story between. I felt there was a big thing made of her abilities, but then nothing ever came of it. Also, there was the issue with her brother, who hardly got mentioned even though he was in the house with them all. One minute he was angry about being there, but then the next minute, he was willing to stay and help, yet there was nothing to tell us how this change in his attitude came about.

  • Must Read!

Protected in Darkness is the first book in the Misplaced Halos series written by Nicole Edwards. I enjoy paranormal romances and was excited to be a part of Nicole’s review team, as this is an entirely new genre for Nicole. I love Nicole Edward’s book and I was not disappointed! This first book establishes the setting for the series and provides a new set of terminology and unusual names. Nicole does provide a glossary at the back of the book for this terminology which I have to admit I referred to often. Obsidian is an angel and the first of his kind. He and his six brothers (and their entourage of fairies, fae & vampires) keep humans save from demons. Until a list of soul mates (amsoulets) are stolen from the Fates. Suddenly it become imperative that Obsidian and his brothers find their soul mates, go through a ceremony to bind their souls together eternally or Obisdian and his brothers lives may be forfeit. Penelope Calazans is Obsidian’s soul mate. Obsidian finds her in Las Vegas, and must romance her, convince her that they are meant to be together and protect her the demons. The book is centered around their romance and adventure. There is danger, intrigue, sacrifice, humor, hot chemistry, romance and love. There is also tidbits about the other brothers’ soul mates and their adventures which is intriguing. Nicole has done an excellent job with this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the series! I received an ARC for an honest review.
